'15 FL DT CeCe Jefferson

Not an intentional thread hijack....

One can only hope at this point. Having to be on the receiving end of 10 straight beatings has taken it's toll on the fan base. The 5 straight wins they had on us prior to '98 trumps the current 10, IMO.

Only because 2 of those losses back then had future NC implications attached. 1995 and 1997.

Back to the CeCe drama. Any new updates?

You forget 1996?

Gators won the natty that year

What just happened here?
McElwain made some Dooley-esque blunders recruiting this year (particularly closing with the Jeffersons), so Vol fans are cherishing the moment. :clapping:

Basically McElwain looks way over his head on the recruiting trail, which is particularly troubling for the folks in Gator country. Only good things come from this. :clapping:

ESPN sure was slobbering all over him and their class.

Butch didn't exactly own the recruiting trail in 2013. There was a major meltdown here when Vonn Bell picked OSU.

Methinks your judgment of McElwain may be a bit premature.

Ya, not to mention he got hired into 7 commits? I don't think he deserves criticism for saving what was initially a program sinking recruiting class and making it decent.

UF was the 23rd ranked class on Rivals. That's worse than Dooley level recruiting. That's also being a favorite destination school in a talent rich state like Florida. Pathetic recruiting. No other way to put it. Mac may be great going forwards but this was a laughable performance. Anyone that says differently is just being a UF homer.

All they could talk about was how he was a "master relationship builder." Yeah, he built the **** out of those relationships with those 2 and 3 stars. That class was insanely top heavy.

Yup. Butch came in to a lot more commits than 7. UFs class finishing even where Butch did in 2013 imo was impressive. I was more surprised that Harbaugh didn't close better than he did.

It will still hurt. He just had 2 good recruits on top of the crap.

So Scarlett, Croknite and McGriff are crap lmao

Mac had one month to build a class.

Impressive to nab 15 recruits he had basically no previous relationship with.

So what if he took a couple of 2*.

Most transition classes are filled with 3* types with a handful of Top 250 kids.

It's still not a great class being so top heavy, and UF will feel the sting of it in a couple years (especially if one of the 5* is a bust), but it's not the new coach's fault.

Not necessarily true.

UF has recruited well the last two cycles that this class won't hurt until 2-3 years from now. Unless you have higher than normal attrition like Muschamp his first year.

Not necessarily true.

Florida Gators is a big brand that carries a lot of weight with recruits and parents. Even with only a month left in the cycle, I expected the new coach to close with some major flips and big fish on/before signing day. It never really materialized. He basically got the 5* recruits he was supposed to get and wasn't able to flip quality players from other teams.

If I were a FL fan, I would at least be a little alarmed at how he closed this class. Winning should solve some of these issues in the fall, though.

UTs 2013 class was 4 4*'s, 18 3*'s, and a 2*. Of those 23, 8 are no longer with the program.

UFs 2015 class is 2 5*'s, 3 4*'s, and 16 3*'s.

This is using 247 composite. Imo, Jim did very well all things considered.

When has that happened anywhere the last 5 years with more kids enrolling early.

He flipped Scarlett and McGriff weeks ago.

Flipped Francios for two hours lol

Guy and his staff had no real relationships with most of the kids committed to other schools. Those same kids wouldn't even committed to Muschamp.

I think its rival fans who are more disappointed about UF class. Most UF recruiting fans believe he did a great job giving the circumstances.

Exactly the way I read it.

He'll get a few starters from this class and process the rest.

The Bama way
