the love affair between torrance gibson and tennessee appeared to end several months ago and gibson officially chose ohio state recently.

On his blog for usa today, he explained why he eliminated the vols. Here’s an excerpt:

“i even had tennessee as my leader at one point, but what i noticed with them was that i started talking to the receiver coach a lot more. I started wondering why i was always talking to him. I hadn’t talked to the quarterback coach in a while.

I feel like, had i gone there, i most likely would’ve played receiver.

No disrespect to them; i just had to do what was right for me and when i weighed everything out i knew that ohio state was where i wanted to be.”

Gibson pretty much demonstrated his maturity by not showing up on time for the Gruden camp. Forget whether or not he even commits to UT, you would think a QB would want to be there to learn from that experience like several of the top QB prospects in the nation took advantage of. We moved on from Gibson that day and that was the right call.

Hopefully the kid gets into OSU but I never understood his thought process. Braxton will come back next year and probably start with Barrett as the back up. Barrett comes back and starts his junior and senior year, so even if TG gets a shot at QB it won't be till he's a junior that he sees the field (unless their an injury). I still think he ends up at WR or DB, unless his passing improves tremendously.
