IMO this will be the 2015 class "Adoree" for us.
With that said, I'll put it at 5%. :zeitung_lesen:
I actually just came here to say this. With Jones & Thigpen I'll never count us out on anyone until the ink dries on an LOI, but this one just has an Adoree feel to me, unless we somehow win a ridiculous amount of games this year.
I think Gibson flirts with UT but ultimately signs elsewhere. We take Gentry and Jennings as a developmental prospect.
At quarterback, there seems to be an early pecking order with several guys like Torrance Gibson, Zach Gentry and Jarrett Stidham sticking out.
Certainly, Gibson will be tough for anyone to get out of Florida but he's taken a keen interest in the Vols early on and he was one of a myriad of prospects Jones talked to on Signing Day.
Gibson received an early scholarship offer from Tennessee and has emerged as one of the Vols early top quarterback targets, with Jones recently traveling to Florida to check on him. Gibson has expressed some interest in UT, but he has yet to visit the Vols, and they undoubtedly will face plenty of competition for him. Miami, Ohio State, Clemson, Florida, LSU and Notre Dame are among the other teams currently high on his list.
TORRANCE GIBSON QB, 6-4/195, PLANTATION, FLA.
REASON FOR THE RANKING: The left-handed quarterback was one of the top playmakers in Florida last year passing for almost 2,000 yards and rushing for over 1,000 while leading his American Heritage team to the state championship game in Florida. Gibson has a good arm, but what truly separates him from other quarterbacks is his ability to make plays with his leg. He's a true home run threat on the read option.
THE SKINNY: Tennessee just recently entered the mix for Gibson but seem to be making a positive impression early on. He has told Volquest.com he hopes to visit Tennessee in the summer to get a a better feel for what Knoxville and Tennessee is like. It will be hard to get this top-ranked athlete out of the state of Florida, but this is a top target for Tennessee and he's taken notice to how much they want him.
So, when we first offered Gibson, I was really excited, his film is amazing. I gushed about him to a buddy of mine who is an Auburn fan. My bud couldn't be bothered to check out his film, because if Gus hasn't offered, how good could he be, right?
So then Auburn offers Gibson and I tell my friend they need to back off, we saw Gibson before Gus did. My pal still doesn't care.
So yesterday, my friend calls me all excited, because he read an Auburn247 article about Gibson, and how this dude is the second coming of Can Newton, and Auburn just HAS to be the favorite because surely Gibson will want Gus to turn him into the next Cam!
Moral of the story: even when they are bros, Auburn fans are the most insufferable homers, and I hate them.![]()
Torrance Gibson | 6-foot-4, 207 lbs | Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage | Five-star, No. 3 QB
Skinny: A dual-threat and state champion, this five-star had a banner junior season in leading the dynamic America Heritage offense to a state championship. Hes determined to play quarterback at the next level and holds a verbal offer from Nick Saban and company. Will Lane Kiffin be his position coach at the next level?
this kid wont end up at bama. clemson auburn lsu florida scare me the most as well osu.
Agree...Bama QBs have to be prepared to fit the system and give up on any Winston/Manziel type freestyle improv...lots of quality QBs apply for that chance.. I think it's telling that Winston left his state...and Kiffin has never been big on turning his QBs loose in the short sample size dossier we have on him.
