Looks like Rivals changed his position from ATH to Dual Threat QB. They might be updating the rankings soon.

Kiffin has not nor will he ever have a African American quarterback. He didn't want Tahj Boyd. He didn't want Jesse Scroggins. Kiffin is trash!

Not entirely true. He wanted Scroggins more than any other QB but we could not overcome the distance. Boyd was not a fit for our system. He went to a great system for him. There is a reason you don't hear Boyd's name mentioned much anymore when discussing elite prospects at the next level. He struggled a lot at the Senior Bowl practices because of his lack of arm strength.

You're exactly right. Boyd would have done nothing under Kiffin. Boyd went to a school that he could utilize his best assets. Dont see him ever being an NFL QB, but who knows.

I wonder if Brady, Rogers and Big Ben were mentioned as elite prospects at the next level?

Rogers, yes. Was supposed to be a top 5-8 pick.
Brady, knock on him was he was too skinny and not mobile enough.
Big Ben, yes-but school and competition played were negatives.

Awful comparison.

All have the arm strength to make NFL throws, Boyd doesn't. Rodgers and Alex Smith were the top 2 QB's of that draft. Big Ben was taken 11th overall when he was drafted. Brady isn't a good example because Boyd isn't even on his planet when it comes to being a leader of men, and he has a better arm.

Brady did not become a leader of men until he got into the NFL. Nor did he have a great arm coming out of college.

Negatives: Poor build. Very skinny and narrow. Ended the '99 season weighing 195 pounds and still looks like a rail at 211. Looks a little frail and lacks great physical stature and strength. Can get pushed down more easily than you'd like. Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush. Lacks a really strong arm. Can't drive the ball down the field and does not throw a really tight spiral. System-type player who can get exposed if he must ad-lib and do things on his own.

Summary: Is not what you're looking for in terms of physical stature, strength, arm strength and mobility, but he has the intangibles and production and showed great Griese-like improvement as a senior. Could make it in the right system but will not be for everyone.

Boyd has the tools needs to succeed in the NFL. The same people who are saying he doesn't are the same ones who said guys like Andre Ware and Ryan Leaf were going to be superstars.

Not saying Boyd wont be a NFL type guy but his stock has dropped significantly since the start of his Sr yr. Dont hear the NFL guru's saying much along the line of Boyd being able to make it or even get drafted. He could have a great workput and change all that but if he cant impress then he will be an Arena League or CFL QB at best. He seems like a good kid and hope he does well, but hasnt done much to help his cause the past yr
