'15 GA CB Micah Abernathy (UT Signee 2/4/15)

CBJ: Scholarships are for 1 year and they are renewable. Yours is not. Get out.

Do that a few times and then see how many kids are lining up to play for a 5 win team. Once you're winning, harsh moves are a little more acceptable and won't hurt so much. Those tactics now could back fire big time IMO. Have to be careful.

I just hope the coaches know those guys are willing to just quit and walk away. If not, it could get messy.

CBJ to current player: "Maybe it's in your best interest to play somewhere you have a better chance of seeing the field".

Player: "Naw coach, I'm content being a Vol and graduating from Tennessee even if it means I never am more than a practice player".

CBJ: "But I need the spot".

Player: "Sorry, I'm happy here".

CBJ: your knee and shoulder injuries have really limited you...a medical hardship has been approved

Fyp :)

How is the VolNation hotel chain working out? It would be sold out now, imagine '15 and beyond.
You are sitting on a potential gold mine. Will likely need a corporate physician :hi:

Business is going well. By the end of 2014 I would have bought and flipped 7 hotels this year. I sold 4 of those 7 after the renovation work. Kept 3 that IMO would gross a nice profit for the next 5-10 years then I will sell those off. Hope to do maybe 10 in 2015.

Jones wins or he won't be here. He has to determine if those kinds of "harsh" moves improve us as a football team. If he doesn't improve the team the "backfire" as you say won't be relevant anyways because he will be fired.

I agree. As long as he wins before all the harsh tactics come back to bite him he will be fine. The clock is obviously ticking.

@DerekTysonESPN: Micah Abernathy is a huge get for the #Vols and big loss for #UGA. Butch Jones continues to do an incredible job on the recruiting trail.

In regards to a package deal per RTI:

His parents told the AJC that it’s not a true “package deal” and that Ralph David hasn’t decided if he’ll try to go to the NFL or play another college season next year.

That being said, it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.

For background for anybody who isn’t familiar with the situation: Micah Abernathy’s brother, Ralph David Abernathy IV, who played for Jones at Cincinnati is injured this season and will be eligible to receive a medical hardship. He has another year of eligibility left and he’ll be graduated, so he would be free to transfer to another school if he enrolls in a graduate program that UC doesn’t have.

Scholarship numbers are obviously tight for the Vols. It’s going to be a stretch to be able to take even 25 newcomers in this class, so bringing in a transfer would be tough as well. It would take significant attrition. We’ll keep an eye on the situation going forward.

Nice, if anything as a fan would hit you in the forehead to say, be patient...recruiting would have to do that for you....MAYBE :focus:

It is going to be very interesting to see how we get the numbers to work this season. I still desperately want to see one more stud OL

It would just mean that IF the staff takes it's full amount of 24/25(whatever it is), then his scholarship would come from an additional current Vol who would be booted to make room for RDA1V's 1 year scholarship.

80(current Vols on roster)-12 SRs leaving=68. Add 1 for RDA1V and you have 69. How many does it take to get you to 85? 16 spots that will be available, and 26 commitments.

Good to see you have come around to understanding. You could just say "hey y'all we all right and I was wrong"!

One thing we have to remember is, this always happens more and the most in a coaches second year, usually. You have to hold on to a few of the players the first year that you normally would not just for depth. It will happen less in the future, so no need to worry about it looking bad.
