Better than Florida too. Alabama is pretty thin as well. Hurd and Kamara will be a filthy duo and will likely get 85-90% of the carries. Everything after that is gravy.

Agree. IMO. Hurd + Kamara = Top5 in the SEC

Hurd + Kamara + Kelly + RDA + *Paulk = not even Top10.

The top two has to stay healthy if we want win some key games.

Hurd, Kamara, and Kelly are about the only ones that I see that we can count on at this point.

RDA, Young, and the prospect of Paulk coming back is not real comforting to me.

If any school has to drop to its #3 back, it's probably in a world of hurt. The best programs go 2 deep on top-level talent. Any more depth than that is rare even for those elite schools.

I think most of us consider UGA an elite program when it comes to stocking the RB position. In 2013, Gurley was out against us and Sutton ripped Marshall in half. Who was up next? Brendan Douglas.

My point: with an 85-scholarship limit and with high-level recruits typically seeking early playing time, it's very rare to see teams that can survive multiple injuries at any single position without schematic adjustments to compensate. So I think there's more hand-wringing about the RB depth than is warranted.

Agreed. I think some are putting too much emphasis on 4th and 5th string tailbacks. We've got an elite combo at rb and both have the ability to tote the ball 20+ times if necessary imo.

Most teams would be in trouble if they got to that point. I think people are emphasizing it more because Butch is but Butch is a guy that plans for everything so he is always thinking about what if. In all likelihood it's the Hurd/Kamara show all year and the 3/4 RBs get a rest carry here or there and blowout carries.

Pretty sure Brendan Douglas and that other guy who's name was like JJ something put up around 200 yards on us. They were really good and helped them win the game. I still think Douglas is a pretty good tailback and wish we had him. Hopefully our back ups are good enough to produce like he and the other guy did in reserve duty

Correct. JJ green, who is awful, put up nearly 200 on us.

Exactly. I hope we can find a guy who can come in and have some random, out-of-his-mind game to help get us a win if our two studs go down

I agree. And if given a choice between John Kelly and the Douglas/Green (who ended up at safety before transferring, according to Google) combo, I'd probably take Kelly if I needed a random out-of-his-mind game from somebody. Admittedly I'm a fan of Kelly though, so perhaps I'm a bit biased.

I'd love to have another elite RB, but that's mostly greed talking, haha. I really don't think we're in a bad spot right now.

Hey I'm a huge Kelly fan as well and agree that I would take a freshman Kelly over a freshman douglas. I'm excited to see what he can do. However, if he doesn't turn out to be ready I would love to have someone like Paulk back because I liked him a lot more than Scott coming out of the 2014 class. If we have those 4 I'll be a lot more comfortable with the RB depth

People act like UGA has been stocking elite talent for decades, and it's simply not true. For the last 3-4 years they've had great talent, and in the mid-2000s they had Moreno. People ignore the years where they had to rely on Caleb King, Ealy, Samuel, etc. Richt even ran out the no backfield line-up while Crowell was on a visit to show him how bad their RB depth was.
