'15 GA CB Micah Abernathy (UT Signee 2/4/15)

What some people don't understand is the resources (manpower) used on TG has since been devoted to other prospects especially the in-state guys. They want this state locked down asap, which is ultimately a good thing and the right move

It was absolutely the right move. Never bought the "they still recruiting him hard and would still take him" talk. Even with TG saying it himself. IMO he was in damage control mode.

CBJ looks to know what he is doing. Hopefully the news of Abernathy still being very much in play is accurate and we can get him in Orange. Abernathy and Miller would be a solid CB class.

That was my feeling as well. In fact, most know I never liked the idea of Gibson at UT at all. After Riley left taking (2) made sense, but I was not sure if CBJ preferred a passer as I did or if he would go for (2) dual threat guys. I am pleased with what CBJ ultimately decided to do. I think it's best for UT going forward.

Yeh....I was on the Gentry wagon. Looks like they liked Dormady better.

Ralph David is his great grandfather. His brother is Ralph David the 4th. At Westminster, His brother was called RDA4. RDA4 visited Tennessee on an unofficial but was not offered. CBJ signed him @ UC.

That was too bad. His brother is a solid player.

"I wanted to get back down there because I couldn't make it for Orange Carpet Day so that was my makeup day," Abernathy said. "I spent time with coach Jancek and coach Martinez and coach Jones. It was a good day."
..

"Just the quality time that I got to spend with the coaches," Abernathy answered when asked what stood out about his visit the most. "It's definitely something that I'll take from there. They told me they would love to have me on the team."
..

"I haven't thought about official visits that much but talking about that is probably coming soon. I'll talk with my family members," Abernathy said. "Right now, I'm just with my top five schools, talking to the coaches and seeing if I can narrow it down."

Asked how quickly a decision could come and if any one team is sticking out to him, he answered simply.

"We'll find out sooner or later."

"I have been told it's either Ohio State or Tennessee. Beyond that, I'm not sure where he's leaning. I think his family is very comfortable at Tennessee, but apparently they had a good visit to OSU a few weeks ago. But, the fact they made a 7 hour stop in Knoxville on their way him is a good sign as well.

I have been told he may do it the day of his first football game, but don't have confirmation of that with Abernathy."

"My decision is likely going to come late in August," said Abernathy. "It will be Oregon, Penn State, Georgia, Ohio State or Tennessee. My five schools are still the same and I will commit to one of those."

A school he is a little more familiar with for multiple reasons is Tennessee. Head coach Butch Jones signed Micah's older brother, Ralph Abernathy at Cincinnati out of high school, so there is a little more known about the staff in Knoxville.

Does it give the Vols an edge?

"It definitely helps Tennessee because I know what type of guys Coach Jones is a few of the other coaches are off the field. I know how they act around their families, what type of men are, and I know them more personally, so that does help Tennessee. Coach Jones knows how to create a family environment and he has done a good job with that at Tennessee."

Good looking prospect. Hope Mr. Aber"nasty" commits to the BIG ORANGE.

Between him and Amadi I like Abernathy.

I'd be happy with either. I'd take both if they wanted on board. I still think the CB situation looks dicey. Would love to see 2 more high level guys taken at that position. Any out of Abernathy, Martin, Mook and Ugo would be great pickups IMO.

How would everyone rank those 4?

Personally I would rank them...

Abernathy (because of 4 years, size, and a Butch legacy)
Reynolds (4 years and height)
Martin ( TN guy, 3 years, height and speed, but possible grade problems)
Amadi (Reason I ranked him here is height)

I agree. Very tough to do.

I'd have Mook #1. I think he's elite. Top 5 corner nationally.

After that really a tossup between the 3. I'd be happy with any of them. All are good looking prospects.
