Wow! Very interesting! We offer, which causes him to decommit, and we shoot straight to the top of his list?

Quentez Johnson*decided to reopen his recruitment last week, just 10 days after he announced his initial commitment to Miami, in hopes of looking into more of the teams that currently are pursuing him.

The three-star junior defensive tackle from Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Ga., named his top 13 college choices in order Thursday night, revealing that Tennessee is now his leader, followed by Miami, Oregon, Auburn, Georgia State and Mississippi State.

“Right now, they are my leader,” said Johnson, the nation’s No. 64 defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite for the 2015 class. “(I like) just the fans and the coaches, and I think that I’m a high priority for them. I just like them a lot.

I think his star is on the rise, S. Johnson was losing stars and being asked to camp. Not sure QJ is a take either but has better film and a higher ceiling IMO.

Yeah we are the leader until he wants to commit.

New slow play option IMO. Looks a lot like the Harrell ordeal to me. Harrell is committed to Ole Miss and de-commits when he thinks UT would take him. He is wrong. Johnson is committed to Miami and de-commits as he thinks Tennessee would take him. I'd guess he would be wrong. Miss on 2-3 other DTs, and maybe he is in play. I'd guess he will commit elsewhere long before he is a take for UT.

I would expect these type of situations will quickly end. Kids and or their families will pick up on it and realize that the UT "offer" may not be like a lot of other schools offers. "Would you take my commitment today" would save these kids a lot of headaches IMO.

Quez is one of Andrew Butcher good friends. They have discussed playing together since the GA Jr Allstar game last year.

Butcher is solid to UT and Quez wanted this offer and I don't think CBJ will turn him down like Johnson, JMO.

Alot of assumptions in this post. He didnt try to commit. He has reopened recruitment since he has blown up with offers. We just happen to be his favorite

"I recently caught up with three-star Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove DT Quentez Johnson and he let me know that Tennessee is one of this three co-leaders, along with Miami and Oregon. Johnson committed to the Canes earlier this year and then backed off because he had yet to visit the school.

He's expected to be in Tennessee for a visit next weekend and I like the Vols chances in this one, assume he's a take when he's ready to pull the trigger. "

Something tellse me he doesn't really have an offer from Bama, Auburn, or UGA, no way at least four of his top 8 are a better choice.

I was wondering what is you guys take on this kid? He's a big body but I think if we can't land tuttle or settle that we should use that extra scholly on the O-lineman. Just want you guys take.

IMO we'll just have to wait and see how the spots play out. If they get McKenzie, Jones, and Richmond in the fold and a spot becomes available closer to NSD for an extra OL/DL guy I do think this kid and Givens would be the discussion IF they have not already committed elsewhere. Also will depend on how a couple of the DL guys in the last class are looking. I would lean toward OL being the safer play today. If Robertson or another DL from 2014 makes the move to OL, maybe Quentez is a take. With DJ Jones probably deciding very close to the Juco signing date, could go either way.

OL-Stewart, J. Jones, Richmond
DL-McKenzie, D.J. Jones, Phillips, Butcher
OL/DL-Jackson

IMO is not bad at all with a smaller class.

Thanks just making sure that I wasn't going crazy by thinking Q. Johnson wasn't an automatic take. Good player though.
