'15 GA DT Quentez Johnson (NC State commit)

I keep hearing the possibility of three defensive tackles. I wonder if this is three high school defensive tackle.

In recruiting, what is said, is 100% unbinding.

Needs change. Players become available. The freshmen you just signed may look terrible once they get in pads... a lotta things happen.

I'm just happy this guy wants to wait till after the season to commit. By that time we should be much more clear on whether we can take him or not. Of course the ideal class is McKenzie, Jones, and Settle/ Tuttle, but I just can't expect that and then have my heart crushed. If one of the three last options in that list go elsewhere Johnson will be able to commit to us.

My guess is that the coaches pushed for a commitment from Tuttle on his last visit, but he did not. Since QJ specifically said that the coaches were wanting him to commit, then that makes me think he is a take definitely. I am guessing that both Settle and Tuttle will not be Vols, and that is why Qj can commit if he would like. McKenzie, Jones, and Johnson would be an outstanding haul at DT.

I agree on Settle and Tuttle. I think they are headed elsewhere. I think McKenzie is already a Vol and Jones would be the ideal match with UT needing an early impact guy. Johnson is a wait and see IMO. IF it is accurate that he is planning to wait till around NSD, it's ideal for UT's situation.

He is a take if they think DJ is coming. Gives him time to develop.

Honestly, I think DJ gave the coaches a silent on his visit a little while back. Many will not agree with me, but I think he is so appreciative that this staff helped him finish HS and find a good JUCO that would continue to develop him. In every interview that he gives, when he talks about Tennessee, he mentions this every time. I just think that it really stuck with him how this staff went out of their way, when they knew he would not be available for two years.

Possibly, I just don't see Butch pressuring a 5-star DT for a commitment in June when the recruitment is going as well as it is (4 visits, we are obviously in top group). Plus he has Mckenzie in hand with a lead on Jones and possibly Settle. Why push for it this early and move to the backup option? I don't disagree that Butch sees QJ as a take though.

Butch is planning out his commitment schedule for the next few months, and needs as many silent commits as possible so that he knows when to plan to announce each one.

Tweet says he has a new leader...who was his leader?

He did have Tennessee/Miami tied at #1.

I figured he would re-commit to Miami. Of course that depends if they take him back I guess.

I think he was our slow play back up for Jones. IMO he was going to decide long before Jones did.
