'15 GA DT Trenton Thompson

Keep on keepin' on, man. You took the first shot, now man up to some trash talk on a rivals board. If that's too much, then I'll be the first to escort you out to another board, take VandyMania or CockyTalk for example. Hope you find a place that you can feel comfortable in.

Show me the first shot .. good luck, cuz I didn't do it.

Why would he want to play in the 3-4, though? He's not a space eater and while I don't know as much about 3-4 ends I don't think he's the right size.

That's a good question but I think for him, he is more going to be put in different spots based on Pruitt's system. Think Tim Jernigan at FSU. You're dead on right, he isn't a space eater, he is a "move a guy out of the way and get in the backfield" type so he is more of a Pruitt guy than he would have been a Grantham guy.

"I will be visiting Tennessee soon and that school is interesting to me. I would have to put them third right now on my list. I like the coaches there and I am taking my mom up there to see the school with me. They are really recruiting me hard."

Maybe so. I don't know a lot about Pruitt's system, but just based on my own knowledge of the 3-4 I have a hard time seeing a natural spot for him in that scheme. Too small for a DE, too big for an OLB. He's almost like a big 4-3 DE. If Pruitt uses some sort of DT, NT, DE front line then I could see him at DT there, maybe, with some added beef.

In the unlikely event he doesn't end up at UGA, I think this is why. Sort of McMillon out of Memphis, who I'm sure UT would love to take but doesn't really have a position for.

This is what happens in detail: You get a few who you can have a reasonable conversation with and all is good, nothing personal, no names thrown or otherwise; Then you get people like, well, YOU. You know, the internet super hero who just can't help himself but to act like a 12 year old. Others on here are pretty civil even when they disagree. Then there's YOU who even if you don't have a relevant point or something of merit to bring to the table, you try to make yourself feel better by taking childish shots at others. Just know that I have been on this board for quite a while actually so no intro is needed and YOU are the exception, not the rule.

Pot meet Kettle

I'm pretty sure trolling is what is childish and you're the one here to take shots. Go ahead and drop this grand "relevant" info on us YOU have. What merit do you bring? None

It is just unreal to me that there are people today like you that have no life and trolling another board is all you have to do. GTFO!

No he's not. It would be a waste of his talents, but in no way is this kid "too small" to play DE in a 3-4.

His best fit would be as a gap-penetrating DT in a 4-3.

I don't know about in college, but the average weight of a 3-4 end in the NFL was 299.9 pounds as of a couple years ago. I'd be willing to bet Alabama and FSU's 3-4 ends weigh pretty close to that. Regardless, I meant it more in the sense of him being a bad fit for the position than his actual size per se, but take it however you want.

Gosh with about 50 or more each year that have great offer sheets, only Saban would be able to keep all of those in state.

BTW, Sheldon Dawson and Rico McGraw said hello :eek:lol:

Hahaha Sheldon Dawson...you can have him.

And I wouldn't count Rico as a Georgia player yet...

Bama is going to be going to a lot more athletic D-line. Bama will play a much more hybrid style defense starting next year. A lot of teams are starting to get away from having 3 huge D-line guys in a 3-4 set, because it's a huge disadvantage against really fast teams like AU. My point is Thompson fits the bill for what a team like Bama wants in their 3-4 ends from now on. He's extremely athletic and explosive.

lol at the sheldon dawson comments by the doggie fan. Sheldon is half-way out the door with his thug buddy Josh Harvey Clemons. Those are guys i'd certainly brag about.

Question to understand content. What would be the difference between a 3-4 DE and a penetrating 4-3 DT? Besides worrying about contain.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to be a Saban, it was an article about Auburn, from the 247 auburn site, so I just figured there was probably nothing in there about Tennessee. Maybe a mention of his top group though
