'15 JUCO CB Justin Martin (UT Signee 2/4/15)

That comes with reps. And Sutton doesn't turnand look sometimes. That's how that Mizzou WR beat him in that end zone fade last year.

But you are right... his next step is to be confident in his ability. He knows the defense.

That pass versus Mizzou was more back shoulder action. Hardest pass to stop as a CB. Every one knows Sutton is the best CB in the country on deep passes. Moseley had chances at several picks but he was happy with the PBU. A guy like Martin will look to make the int first and break up the pass second.

I'm asking because I don't know... was he exclusive Cb at NEO? And did he dominate the competition?

OT maybe - I was curious about the stat posted earlier so I googled the site in reference. I didn't find the specific data so it could be premium content but I was looking at some of the other rankings and the best CBs in CFB maybe get targeted around 15% +/- of their coverage snaps? Yes, that's a question. So how many targets would you guess were thrown at our CBs each last season or did everyone just target coleman?:ermm:

He didn't make a play on any pass within the initial 10 yards that I can remember. I'm not dogging him but not turning and looking for the ball was what happened in the Ole Miss game. He tackles better than I thought he would. I'd like for him to actually trust his skills to make plays more.

I think his whole game improved as the year progressed. I expect that has continued during the offseason. Hope he has a really good year. Nice to have quality options back there again.

Moseley gets a lot of hype but on that deep ball against Pig in the Spring he looked just as lost as last year.

Martin is a freak athlete and Foreman the one I like from what I've currently seen on the field.

So one play against arguably UT's most consistently good and experienced WR... and someone who has never played at the SEC level is automatically better?

I hope Martin is good enough to beat out Moseley... because if he is then UT, not UF or anyone else, has the best pair of CB's in the country. Moseley was good last fall and got MUCH better as the season progressed. He has great athleticism paired with incredible instinct.

THIS more than all the highly rated guys is what impresses me about Jones' recruiting. At 5.5, Rivals barely gave him 3*. His best other offer was NCSU. He had no offers out of NC except UT which generally isn't a good sign... and that didn't include UNC or Duke.

Jones found a guy that no one else wanted who was an SEC caliber CB by the end of his Fr year. THAT is impressive recruiting and player development.

You're hilarious in how you take out one sentence to try and prove a point. Maybe you should keep reading through the thread. Moseley was OKAY last fall which is expected from a freshman at CB. And just because he beats out Moseley won't put us as the best tandem in the country. Florida had two freshmen(Tabor and Wilson)at CB that were better than Moseley. Their No.1 isn't better than Sutton but he's elite in coverage. Moseley is lacking in the ball skills department right now. You can slice it how you want but it's the truth.

I'd love to know how many times Coleman was targeted compared to the others.

That's easy to calculate. Just see how many pass inference calls he received.

Come on BB... Okay as a freshman? I love it when ppl drop factual info like the guy showing EM was ranked 3rd in the SEC in rec/pass plays.

Ball skills are great... But they can only be showcased if the QB throws it their way. Give me the guy who doesn't allow that to even happen.

I'm a fan of EM and actually think the coaches have talked about Sutton at nickel because they don't have a problem with EM and JM on the field together.

I'm sorry he played better than I thought but he had chances. There was also a glaring matchup problem in the nickel. Teams were putting their No.1 in the slot to get 1 on 1 matchups. Our coaches didn't adjust to it so that's where teams went. The Ole Miss game E.Moseley was attacked directly. He had 1 deflection(should've been a PI) and gave up two deep passes(one being a TD). He wasn't in all game on the outside in any game so I'm really reserved about giving him a bunch of hype. He has talent but is he a playmaker at CB?

I gotta agree with you BB. Moseley played well for a freshman, but he wasn't freshman Cam. He has a lot of room to improve, but I think it will help just focusing on an outside spot. I'd like see them move Cam around and follow the #1 with Gaulden being able to pinch in at nickel and JM taking at least the outside when Cam is in Nickel. Our secondary is very underrated, but we currently have just one true playMAKER at CB. Our safeties are very deep, but the corners have got to improve their abilities to play the ball in the air. They will have plenty of opportunities with the DL we are gonna have, and outside of the MLB, that is our most glaring weakness.

I think we need to slow down on the EM analysis until he gets used to his new body, kid put on like 30 pounds from the time he got here until the season started, that's a huge adjustment. I think this year he will get even bigger and begin to actually use his newly added weight to his advantage. hes a burner and probably just got by on speed and athleticism until he came to big boy ball. luckily we have enough depth to give him time to develop with gaulden, cam, martin and co there to help out.

Exactly. The last sentence.

It's hilarious the expectations people have on freshman these days. Mosely talent is obvious. He isn't going to be Deion Sanders overnight. He was a QB in HS. Goodness

Part of ithe issue is we have had to rely on freshmen so much we needed all to be Hurd, Surtton, EB. You only get 1 or 2 of these players in each class...guys really ready to play at SEC level. Most players take a year or 2 or 3 to develop. See Robert Meachem. Hope we can temper expectations to something realistic going forward.

I wish that were true, it would have brought down his average yards allowed if he just interfered every time

The negative comments about Justin Coleman are tired and worn out. Yeah, he had his struggles, but he was also a kid that worked hard, stayed out of trouble, earned his degree, and gave it everything he had. By his senior year he had become a pretty steady player, and now he's got a shot at the NFL. Quit bashing the kid every time his name gets mentioned.
