'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

I'm sure bama wasn't exactly truthful with Kamara either. Who knows what kids are told on recruiting visits. Bama sites have said he didn't go to class at Bama, Sour grapes, butthurt, or truth?

I won't argue with this because I am realistic and I am sure there are players who are misled at every school - that's just how it is.

But there are multiple quotes from kids saying Saban tells them they will have to earn a spot and do what they have to do, etc etc etc.

When AK didn't get to play it obviously had to be upsetting since he was a super star in HS. We see it almost every year around the country. The difference is what the player does at that point. AK did not handle the situation right, and it ended his Bama career. I will say the reports about him not going to class and causing trouble, etc. did not just start when he got kicked off.. we knew about that for months and expected him to be gone.

That doesn't mean he will be the same now at UT. I assume he will have matured and be ready to go now. That is pretty common. We have a new TE that had issues at UGA and went JUCO and now claims to be mature and ready. We will see.

Yeah it never made sense. We had 5*D Henry, 4*Altee Tenpenny, and 4*Tyren Jones RBs in that class... and AK.

Never made sense to take 4 RBs. We also took 3 QBs in that class (1 walk-on) and 2 of them have transferred out.

It was a strange waste of schollies... but hey I am no coach and I am not complaining about our recruiting overall.. just a few things like that are interesting.

awesome. thx for the alabama heads up.

Ah, yes. I'm all too familiar to crying girls and Bama fans. One in the same. Expect everything to be handed to them and cry when they don't get it. Still love my girls though. Bama fans not so much...

i had a customer come into my store today. a bama fan. she cried to me about the economy and such. she also cried and said she hopes the president of the united states dies. class, sheer class.

Back to Kamara, I'm having that deja vu feeling all over again. Kamara's roundabout recruitment reminds me of finally getting Tyler Smith to Rocky Top. We will be getting an instant boost to the team from a developed and experienced sophomore. Same as Tyler, I also feel like he is one of the final puzzle pieces to put this team over the top. Add in some stud defensive players and we are talking a championship squad in two years.

Some coaches will take a player just to keep them from the competition. Wonder if that's what happened here?

I'm not sure. I don't see how any program feels that they need to sign 4 RBs in one class, much less Alabama. It sure makes me think that Saban was trying to keep him from the competition. But who knows. It's the kid's decision. No one forced all 4 of them to sign with the same class.

MZterry... watching this thread... silently... laughing... biding her time... waiting...

Oh she's out there! Probably thinking how idiotic we all are! Lol! What's up, MzT? :)

On the other hand, does anyone feel that today is the day that many Booms might go off in this thread? Let's hope so! Come on home to Rocky Top, AK!

I thought he got moved to the slot shortly after arriving on campus and that was where some of the butthurt came from. Never felt like he got a fair shake at RB and felt lied to.

Yeah, over signing for a position in 1 class just leads to wasted scholarships and usually transfers. Spread out the kids at each position class wise and things tend to run a lot smoother IMO.

Over-signing has been the Bama way since the Bear did it just to keep everyone else from getting talent. Makes coaching so much easier when you can stockpile all the talent.

Stricter scholarship limits (both overall and per class) now can make this come back to bite you now.

Yea I'm.sure Saban and his 3 NC's is really losing sleep over this

Things are starting to change. I'm sure Saban is starting to sense that the Big Orange train is picking up steam, and I'm sure he is fully aware of what this program can do when the train is full steam ahead. If you like him and Bama so much and want to defend them, then go join the rest of the Bama bandwagon fans.

This would be as good of a get as we could have at RB.

Him and Hurd would be absolute studs.

Also realize Scott/Paulk could easily redshirt.

There will still be a couple years they can start or even better push Hurd and AK for playing time among several players with several different skillsets.

I think with Paulk/Jenkins here it will really help AK. Those are his boys since they were young. Its awesome to play with your boys, but even better to have them around for the good and bad stuff.

I have always thought Kamara was a fit here. I dont blame any 18 year old for getting big eyes and wanting to play for the team thats been pretty dominant over last 6 years.

He is the fit for this offense and even better for Kamara he will get snaps at JUCO this year. One of the most frustrating things in a RS year is working scout team and not getting on the field. It makes things really tough for a lot of kids.
