'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

Classy post...and Todd Gurley says you guys will be ok
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Have a few others behind him as well. I know there are other targets on UGA's board at RB but maybe it's time to move on to 2016 at that position.

Loot at his jersey. Just sayin...

I wasn't trying to be a jerk about it. You just said he is undoubtedly wearing 27. Well, he is undoubtedly wearing 26 too. I was just pointing it out in case you didn't notice, which you admit you didn't at first.

Yeah. You're not hurting at that position by any means when Chubb and Michel are freshmen

Nice get you guys ..not looking forward to seeing him once a year

Don't fret. You will probably only see him one time since his first year (2015) at UT will be his third year out of high school and he will leave in the 2016 draft. Especially since he has a questionable attitude toward academics.

I just hope that he has a Charlie Garner type year (1992) while he is here. Otherwise, I see little impact with this commitment, other than recruiting headlines.

Is Turman expected to do anything? I liked him coming out of HS

I think he is the "spell the horses for a few carries" back .. will get probably 5-10 carries depending on who the opponent is. Looked GREAT in the spring game and I agree .. out of HS, looked like a stud. How loud did you guys laugh at people when they say Hurd is too tall to play RB when Henry is coming in at 6'4 (closer to 6'5")?

Really? I think he arrives on campus at the end of this year and has 3 years of eligibility. That three years will be enough to drive someone nutz

Read the first part of my post again. Especially the part about academics.

Shoot... some of our own people are still saying that around here.

“Really, it was between two schools,” said Kamara, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 3 junior-college prospect in the 247Sports Composite for the 2015 class. “It was between Georgia and Tennessee, and I was really looking to just go somewhere I believe that I’d fit in —*a family place with good people and good coaches — and that’s what I found at Tennessee.”

The 5-foot-10.5, 212-pound Kamara said he “didn’t really connect” with former Tennessee coach*Derek Dooley’s staff, but he hasn’t had that problem with Vols coachButch Jones’ staff, including running backs coach*Robert Gillespie.

“It was definitely a different feel,” Kamara said. “That first staff, we didn’t really connect. And, I mean, I don’t know if that was anybody’s fault. But with this staff, I felt like they really had a true interest in getting me up to UT, and me and the coaches got along real well, so I went ahead and decided to commit.

“I just honestly think that they’re good people and they would have everybody’s best interests at heart. There’s no sugarcoating when you’re talking to them. I mean, of course, they’re going to coach hard, and that’s what they should do because that’s their job. But they’re nice people. They’re good people, and they make you want to play for them and want to work for them.”

Kamara said he’s also encouraged by the progress Tennessee has made under Jones' staff.

“I think it’s on the rise, the way that Coach Jones and his staff handle everything —*like, recruiting and everything,” Kamara said. “They’re connecting with players and parents. I think it’s on the rise, and I think some good things are really about to happen in Knoxville, and that’s why I’m a part of it.”

He said he surprised even himself with the timing of his decision.

“I want to say I was kind of planning on doing it early, but I didn’t really think I would do it this early,” said Kamara, who’s hoping to enroll at Tennessee in January.

“They need running backs, and when I get there, I’ll be the oldest guy in the room*— the most experienced —*so it’s a good opportunity.”

Kamara said it also didn’t hurt that a few of his friends — wide receiver*Jason Croom, running back*Treyvon Paulkand wide receiver*Ryan Jenkins*—*already play for the Vols and another of his close friends,*Diamond DeShields, recently transferred to Tennessee to play women’s basketball.

“It actually helped a little bit, just that I knew some people there from a comfort standpoint,” Kamara said. “I’m not going into a foreign environment, and there are people there like Jason. Me and him have been close forever. I know he’ll have my back, and then Ryan, Treyvon and Diamond.
