Gurley couldn't run behind this OL

Wrong this line would make him look normal. Gurley breaks arm tackles and has the burst to get the edge if he needs it. Hurd drives me crazy when he can carry 5 guys on one play but the next five runs he gets dropped with arm tackles.

Hurd will get better with experience. I'm not sold on him yet but know he's not really played for over a year so I'm holding out hope.

I am sure LV, the resident numbers expert, will totally disagree with you.

However I totally agree with you. Gotta have good RB depth in the SEC.

With losing Paulk the staff could decide another RB would be worth the spot. I'd rather use it elsewhere. Hurd and Scott from 2014, Reid and Kamara for 2015, Several really good RBs leaning toward UT for 2016 tells me we would be just fine. Also IMO Bruce could see a few carries here and there in the Pig/DY role. As others have pointed out the RBs don't really matter if the OL can't open any holes for them to run through.

If we lose a commitment, I'd think OL is where that spot needs to be used at this point IF the staff can find a kid worth the spot.

Yeah, Butch said in today's press conference that you need 3-4 RB's to compete in the SEC. I think with Hurd, Kamara, Reid, and Scott, you have four great quality backs. Then I think you land a kid like Feaster, and you're set for a while. You could even take a year off of recruiting a RB with a young crew like that.

It's so sad that we really are just a OL away from being freaking incredible. We have everything else. Even a DL that is exceeding expectations (I'll admit, I expected them to be terrible). But the OL is a hole, and people are stacking the box, forcing us to throw quick, and the corners are pressing down.

It'll get better though. Patience will pay off.

RB Alvin Kamara, Tennessee commit: This talented running back was the No. 32-ranked player in the country when he originally signed with Alabama back in 2013. But because of the Crimson Tide’s stable of running backs Kamara didn’t break the regular rotation and decided to transfer. Kamara, on paper, seems to be a great fit for Tennessee’s scheme. With his explosive playmaking ability he should be able to make a smooth transition back to the SEC next year.

Really very excited about him. He should definitely be able to mix it up. Will be excited about some 2 back sets. Hurd and Kamara, Kamara and Scott, Scott and Hurd, and then throw Reid in there?

Reid is a player, btw. Looking at his stats, he's having a ridiculous year.

Yeah, I can't wait. He's really tearing it up at Hutchinson.

Hopefully he is as impactful as one of the last Hutchinson players we had....

Wishful thinking...there won't ever be another CP. But I definitely hope that he makes a immediate impact. Hurd can't carry the full load for 4 years. Gurley has Michel and Marshall and Chubb. Yeldon has Drake and Henry. Arkansas has several backs. Butch is right. You want a rushing attack in the SEC, you have to have multiple backs that can step in and get it done.

FWIW, Hutchinson has corrected Kamara's official stats from last week, crediting him with 219 yards on 27 carries. So for the season he's averaging 7.2 ypc and is now 3rd nationally in rushing yards per game.
