'15 LA WR Jalen McCleskey

I read this article, there is a part left out of that quote where it talks about how he has since grown 3 inches and gained 20 lbs of muscle and now wears a size 13 shoe and may still be growing...

So my take on that is he is about 6 1' now 170.

Ahh ok. Thanks for the clarification.

at the tennessee camp last week, jalen (5-10/150) ran a 4.47 (40) for the vols’ staff and got some positive feedback.

“they said they really liked me and they would be staying in touch a lot more now,” said jalen. “i caught the ball well and showed them i am pretty athletic and can run. I got the feeling they were serious about me and hopefully they will offer.”

“growing up in my house, tennessee was always the school we followed,” jalen said. “it’s more than just that, though. Their facilities are great and i really like their coaching staff. I also really like the community around knoxville and the campus.”

When we offer, he will commit. Probably something Butch will time when he wants another '15 commit.

He's gonna need to add some good weight to even be a slot/scat back for us, but he's got plenty of time to do it. If he's got half his dad's work ethic....he could be a heckuva player here.

Not many 5'10 men wearing size 13. He'll be plenty big enough by next year.

I'm one of them. Was that size at 13 (shoe and height) and never grew another inch haha. But I'm an exception to the rule. Jalen is already taller than his dad and could add 15-20 more lbs fairly easily I'd imagine.

JJ and Jalen are on TSR

Listening to it now. Loved the way JJ played. Always played with a chip on his shoulder. If Jalen has JJ training him and showing him the ropes he should be successful at the next level.

Before my time, but he sounds like a fan favorite. I've got some notes on Jalen from the interview I'm about to post

Notes from Jalen on TSR:
-Excited to play at the next level
-plays WR/CB
-says he has good speed
-JJ says Jalen's a really disciplined and hard working WR
-JJ also said his son went from a 4.9 to mid 4.4 40 time just over this summer
-Jalen is 5'9"-5'10"
-Jalen is a UT fan
-Said "it would be good to go there, to keep the legacy going"
-main factors in choice: looking for good education, looking to catch a lot of passes
-JJ talked for 3 or so minutes about how he loved the new staff
-Jalen is also hearing from FSU and LSU

He was a little before my time as well before I really followed football. Telling my age but I was senior in HS in 91 and even though I was a UT fan I didn't start really follow UT until I was 19/20.

JJ was a little before my time as well but I remember playing catch in the front yard with my Dad. He would catch the ball and give his best John Ward impersonation. "Give him six! Touchdown JJ McCleskey!"

I love the Vols!

Just a thought, but Powell decommitting might help Jalen's chances of being a take next year. Not sure how they compare, but their size makes me think they would play in the same role.

I love legacies but is this kid good enough for a Jones recruiting class (not trying to downplay I just don't know)?

Anyone have any updates on him?

Camped at Oklahoma State a couple weeks ago, the coaches really liked him. Beyond that, he is still yet to receive his first offer.

I believe jalen is reclassifying and will be a 2016 prospect.

I hope so, because I think this kid could be a dynamic player in our offense, but probably won't get a spot in the '15 class, seeing we are after other instate guys like Van Jefferson and CJ Sanders

Jalen had a 106.95 Sparq score at the Orlando combine today. Third best overall score. 4.49 layered 40. Just needs to keep grinding and putting on weight. He has a work ethic just like his father's. If he doesn't play for us he will play D1 somewhere.
