'15 NC CB Mook Reynolds

Why is Martin a must? We brought in several DBs last year and all we lose in 2015 is Coleman. I just don't see the gap that justifies bringing in a Juco. Not saying it won't happen but what are you seeing that makes you think this way?

Our CB #2 is a big question mark and Martin is arguably the best CB in this cycle

If Abernathy commits, and we are truly holding a spot for Martin, how do we even take this kid? Even with Miller likely leaving?

I don't come from the Leb school of thought, but we don't have That many spots remaining...

Miller is gone? What happened?

Martin is a great talent, could be better than Abernathy. He is a talent you can't let go.

Martin is elite...possibly best CB in this class. And you don't pass on him JUCO or not. Plus, he has 3 yrs of eligibility left so he's not a typical JUCO.

Martin is Special. NFL 1st round special.

Missed that one. In that case, I love our band of misfits. This defense is verging on elite...just a couple pieces and depth.

I agree. I was bullish on our secondary and LB's coming in but the remarkably stout run defense has certainly been the most pleasant surprise of this season so far, especially considering how light we are up front.

I hope our offensive staff makes identical statements look ridiculous as well

"I'm not sold on Jancek and our recycled defensive staff yet" <-- Real quote from before the season.

LOL. That same MENSA candidate said he hoped we won a lot of games 38-35 so the D staff would get replaced with better recruiters.

It's not like the guys at the No.2 spot aren't playing good football. They actually look good to me. I just think everyone thinks we can match Sutton. Sutton could end up as the best CB to ever put on the Orangd.?

Yeah this. Williams has been a pleasant surprise and Coleman has held his own.

I am impressed with our overall defense as well, especially considering the amount of youth we are forced to play. Having said that, we are only 10th overall in run defense in the SEC.

In the interest of full disclosure though, I wonder where our rush defense ranks if you throw out the 4th quarter vs OU, UGA, & UF? We have faired pretty well considering our depth on the defensive line through three quarters, but we get worn down, perhaps as a result of our own offense's ability to sustain drives over the span of an entire game. Samaje Perine, Todd Gurley, and Matt Jones all managed half of their total rushing yards in the 4th quarter against a worn down defense.

If the offense could help to keep them off the field by keeping drives alive in the 4th quarter, it would go a long way towards preserving those defensive efforts instead of seeing them ruined late in games.

Right before he picked off his latest, I was screaming, "no! You don't throw on Cam!!"

.25 seconds later, pick

The run defense is incredible considering we aren't playing 1 DT over 300 pounds at the moment. Sawyers is the only guy at DT that weighs over 300 pounds unless Sauls put on more weight. Sawyers isn't even playing a whole lot. The entire DL has been impressive. The ability to gap control by using slanted techniques has allowed us to be extremely effective with a very small DL. Imagine what will happen when Sawyers gets more reps and KMac and Shy get here. Good luck running up the middle on us in a few years.

I agree. Add KM and Tuttle to Barnett and one of Vereen, Hendrix, Butcher, Henderson, etc., etc., etc., & it gets ugly for opponents real fast.

My thought process went like this:

"Please Lord let them throw it at Cam!"

0.25 seconds later, prayers answered!

Martin is better than any CB on our roster besides Cam

martin is an absolute must. abernathy is going to be a great one. cant see miller sticking. see mook staying with vatech.

I don't doubt that since most of our depth in the D backfield are youngsters. I'll have to trust you on this one. I don't have a very good grasp of depth and talent at the position. I guess if the coaches feel like our 2s aren't coming along as well, we will take this guy if he wants in.
