'15 NC DT Sterling Johnson

Weird recruitment overall. As a Clemson fan, definitely took me off guard. Here's an interview and some insight from him last night after everything went down:

"To be completely honest, Tenn was my favorite leading up to Tuesday. Then they told me they weren't going to accept my commitment with the way their depth chart played out. They wanted me to come to camp with the other defensive tackles they've offered, then they'd take the best one."

"Honestly, that wasn't the part that bothered me. Spring ball has been over for a month now, and they knew that was their plan, but they waited till I asked for a commitment before they even said anything. That's what bothered me."

"The only reason Tenn was above Clemson was because I could intern at the SEC Network there. But then I thought about it, and I've even told this to recruits and the Tenn coaches when asked who I have the best relationship with; it's Clemson coaches.

"I thought about that and the family environment there. Both of my parents liked it there, and they're graduating six defensive linemen. So I said to myself, some people may question whether I'm just trying to get this over with, but I believe my heart is in Death Valley."

"I don't believe it was a coincidence I talked to Clemson the night before and Tenn ended up telling me they weren't going to take me. I felt like it was an act of god. He was telling me to make this right move."

Clemson is the fat girl at the prom. Nobody's first pick, always the back up plan, but just glad to be there.

Agree. That would make him like Satin.

I'm not stupid guys, i understand the consequences. However this is a cutthroat business and you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to win. It's not his job to be nice, it's his job to win football games. And I'd like to point out that satin has multiple championships, and butch has none. Hate him if you want, but the guy does what's necessary to win, and it shows.

Kind of like your coach? Sorry had to do it, just waaaaay too easy.

Do any schools get their first pick when hiring coaches? Texas hired a guy not in their top 5. Best thing that ever happened to UT FB was Dave Hart not getting his top choice. Wouldn't trade Butch Jones for any coach in the country.

Relax, your boy threw a jab and left himself wide ass open. All in fun man, I'm not going down this route.

Is Sterling a take as of right now or is the staff just slow playing him?
As of Tuesday night he committed to Clemson. We'll see if that is how it ends up, but he seems to have gone all in on the Tigers.
