'15 NC RB Rocky Reid (Wake Forest commit)

I was just tossing out a couple names of uncommitted recruits at positions where we are taking more #'s. Maybe DeBerry is the one to pass on. Maybe it's Ordway. Maybe they move Woods to CB, and only take Williams at WR. Maybe they only take 1 DT. If it is SET they plan to take 2 RBs and 2 QBs, obviously the spots have to come from somewhere.

Orrrrrr ...

We can let the coaches figure out the numbers. Numbers is the only thing I don't see a point in discussing.

Of course they will work themselves out. They have to. Obviously there will be ALOT of kids who can not be Vols come NSD who ALOT of people are claiming are sure takes today.

There are probably 50 or more kids who are takes right now. Probably 5 QBs who are takes right now, but as kids commit, that number shrinks, or even vanishes. We aren't taking 5 QBs. We aren't going to take 10 OL either, but there are likely 10 guys who are takes right now. If Edoga and Richmond committed tomorrow, then guys who may have been takes yesterday, no longer are. It is an extremely fluid situation that you constantly seem to want to make concrete.

Obviously the issue is the idea of (25). CBJ himself said 18-22. I get that some fans just need to see 25 to feel right about it.

He also said that last year they thought the number would be much lower than it ended up being. Basically he was saying, "18-22, but probably more."

As other have stated, numbers are very much a part of recruiting. You don't have to discuss it if you would rather not. That's what is great about a message board. You can kind of pick and choose where to add your input/opinion on things.

When we see kids like Clark, Olenga, Rahming, and others continue to say UT leads yet no commitment, IMO it points to #'s are very much in play already.

But why do we have to have the same discussion in every thread? How about we start a "numbers talk thread" and that can be the place for it.

You do have a choice to join in the discussion or not. How exactly is it my fault your fixated on responding/crying about whatever I have to say? When I see something I am not interested in discussing, I just move on to the next thread. That is an option ya know?

Because every recruits thread that you post in becomes a numbers discussion at some point and it's annoying. It's like a broken record.

Nobody wants to discuss it with you though, because youre stuck on the 18-22 number and tell everyone theyre wrong, or "wishful thinking" when they bring up another number. Everyone here already knows your take on the numbers. You should let everyone else have their own take it too.

There's a reason Butch would underestimate and say 18-22. If he comes out and says that they expect to sign 25 then there will be quite a few transfers after this year. I don't think creating that perception would be beneficial to the current players.

Yep, at one point Butch said the number was 30.

We signed more than that. Things change.

Things could change. Maybe we sign only 15-16. It is interesting most think the 18-22# could ONLY go up.

When you have current walk-ons out performing sure day 1 starters(high 4* OTs coming in)per the fans, maybe cutting all the kids on the roster who are not All SEC is not the best plan.

There is no way in hell he could only take 15 in his second class... Especially in this league, with our current roster

The guys that aren't SEC caliber will not be on the team. It's that simple.

Your convoluted ideology on the "numbers" would lead straight to more mediocrity.

Is that what you want? More 5 win seasons, because we kept some "VFL's" that wouldn't be allowed to walk on at Bama?

14 EE's and you pick the one guy who showed up out of shape and is under performing in spring practice to make your weak argument. Haha

Ok, get together....whip em out and put em on the table and see whose is bigger. Just get it over with :)

I feel like when LV gets off VN, he goes through numbers withdrawal and has to lay down and count the number of popcorn in the ceiling until he finally gets his fix.

Gonna be that dude in the nursing home incessantly muttering:

"4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42..... 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42..."
