I am sure nobody is upset about Jake leaving. I mean most on here have trashed his play calling since he has gotten here.

Lets just hope Hart opens up the checkbook to get somebody really good to replace Jake.

If CZA had proven play calling experience, I think he would definitely be the first choice. However, CBJ needs to bring in solid, experienced OC with experience in the uptempo, spread offense CBJ uses. That's why CBJ's connections going back to Rich Rod will play into the choice. I would bet that Rich Rod and CBJ have already talked. Also CBJ is always well prepared, and I'm sure he has a notebook of resumes ready for just such a situation.

For openers, Rod Smith and Calvin McGee make good sense as strong options. There are others, and we will just need to wait and see. I expect CBJ to select his OC within 2-3 days. The only question will be if the new OC wants to bring some staff with him. That could shake things up some.

Not sure how open we'll be to shaking up the staff. Four of these coaches have been with Butch a long time, and others either have strong ties to him or are our best recruiters. I can't see us rocking the boat too much right before NSD. Hope we can keep Coach Z, but it would be great to have a homerun hire for OC.

hopefully the past experience with CBJ would give McGee a level of comfort with working with the current staff so that changes would not be as much of an issue as might normally be the case.

Agree. Any word that we've reached out to McGee?

At this point azzani makes the most sense. Minimal shake up promote from within. He can't be any worse on game day.

JMO, we're better served trying to push a hire back until after NSD. Butch can easily sell Jake was running his offense anyway, and you avoid any hurt feelings/coaches leaving until after we get this class inked. Once we have those LOIs in hand, then you fix the staff problems. Again, jmo.

The big question now is ... "Will we still have the #1 Coaching Staff in America after CMB leaves and is replaced"? Whoever we get, I hope we can hold onto the top spot.

Azzanni knows the offense. If he didn't, then he couldn't be a position coach. Besides, he's an amazing recruiter and knows what he needs. He's been an offensive coordinator before at Western Kentucky and was the passing game coordinator for Florida. He has some experience and I think we need to hold onto him for as long as we can. I'd rather have someone hired within who already knows this offense in and out than some random guy from San Diego State who's an "up and comer"

If we can't get a huge splash hire we promote Azzanni. Im pretty sure that's the game plan right now.
