It’s amazing because Tennessee could never do this in year two….or three…..or four. Our program just sucks and nothing can fix it. We can’t even cheat and win. How do you not have an offensive line and running game in the last 13 years?

Average to below average recruiting, and the the higher rated ones usually are a bust or transfer out

It is amazing how every coach is suddenly pedestrian after leaving Bama. And not just coaching, recruiting as well.

Part of the reason could be because we haven't hired a coach yet that has gotten guys to buy in like Pittman has gotten his guys to buy in. Even though they went 3-7 last year, his players seem to love him and play really hard. In contrast Pruitt had guys mailing it in already towards the end of his first season. I don't think Butch and especially Dooley ever had true buy in either.

Culture at Tennessee has been soft going back to Fulmer's last 2 or 3 years. Even when Cut was here the 2nd time, Tennessee's Ol couldnt bust a grape and nothing has changed much since. Teams that play real physical football get first downs on 3rd and 2 and 4th and 1 consistently, Tennessee doesnt get first downs in those situations consistently....they get stuffed. Texas has played soft football for many years also. I think much of it is due to all of the Texas HS teams run the spread offense and not much physical play there anymore, but that is just my opinion. TxA&M isnt real physical either.

Nobody really in that part of the country is. There is also a huge emphasis on 7-on-7 in the State of Texas.

Briles offense was rather consist in those situations but that is probably an outlier because his concepts were based on the Houston Veer Offense that he learned while playing for Bill Yoeman. Art would rather run through you than to pass over you. His son (at Arkansas) and son-in-law (at Ole Miss) have brought those concepts to the SEC.
