I've posted this before but I'll post it again. My friend went to tour UT's facility about a month ago. One of the guys on UT's staff was taking my friend on his tour with dormady and his dad. He spoke to them all day and got to spend the day in the meeting room with him and bajakian.Coach Jake was giving dormady and his dad plays to implement into their system in high school so he would be ready to run stuff when he got here (His dad is his high school coach).
They have been here on their own time more than once and coach Jake and his dad talk regularly. I without a doubt in my mind think he is as solid as a recruit can be.
I really hope I was wrong about him not being able to play QB at the next level. He would fit in well in our offense if he continues to improve
After watching JJ's senior highlights, I'm even more excited about him. He has improved so much since last year and you can tell he has put in the work to do so. I can't imagine how much he will improve when he has an SEC staff working with him. I love his attitude too.
Any indication at this point if Jones thinks Jennings or Dormady is the qb of the future? Or, is he planning to let them compete and see which one earns the job? Surely he has idea of which one he prefers to lead the offense.
I'm guessing your response to my question is, he plans he plans to sign them both and let them compete for the job.
He can only sign a certain number of the commits. Why waste a spot on someone he doesn't plan on playing unless that recruit can play another position or he thinks he will win the job. I doubt neither Dormady or Jennings wants to be a backup.
Well, my response is only that he hasn't said. It would be foolish to make a public announcement that a major recruit will be a backup.
But, even if he has a QB who he expects to see succeed that does not mean he will not let it play out between the two of them and Dobbs over the next few years. You never know what will happen. Dobbs could become an all-SEC QB, Dormady could end up being Andrew Luck, or Jennings could wind up being Johnny Manziel. Or, all three could sh** the bed. That's why we recruit more than can start and let it play out in practice.
