'15 TN CB Ugo Amadi

Per Hubbs

Elsewhere, chatter of Ugo Amadi and the Vols picked up and what we understand as of Thursday night is that while Ole Miss has felt good about where they have been with Amadi recently, the Nashville defensive back is doing some major thinking.

Amadi told us earlier this week that his in-home visit with the Vols was 'great' and with Butch Jones, Tommy Thigpen, John Jancek and Willie Martinez all in the home Tennessee impressed him. Tennessee and Jones continue to let him know he could be an early factor in the return game as well as in the defensive backfield.

While it's possible Amadi takes an official visit to LSU this weekend he told Volquest.com Thursday night that he was not scheduled for one. Regardless, it seems there's some late drama with Amadi as he's scheduled to announce a final decision on Monday.

"I'm not in any way trying to contradict what Barton has heard and reported. He's one of the best in the business, and I'm sure what he has reported is good information. I just haven't heard the same things he has, and I haven't been told anything over the past couple of days that would lead me to believe Tennessee has a particularly good chance of landing Amadi.
It's still not out of the question that the Vols could land him, but I wouldn't say they're the team to beat, based on what I've heard."

Corner (AKA Buck F.) when asked about Amadi coming to the hill

There are a lot of moving parts. A handful of schools trying to steal him. His sr film has gotten around to programs especially his return game film. He will be an elite return man on the next level. LSU, Ohio St, UT and Ole Miss are all there.

I would predict Ugo won't make an announcement on the 15th. He won't know where he is going on the 15th is my guess.

I could see the kid being confused because he is getting so much interest from so many places here at the end. I still see this coming down to him signing with a staff that has been recruiting him for a while and one that he is familiar with and unfortunately I just think that our early slow play will be too much for him to look past. I'm still thinking Ole Miss or possibly LSU in the end.

I hope we don't set ourselves up for a big letdown. Just sayin,it's happened before. JMO

I think landing Amadi would be more of a bonus than so much a let down IF he goes elsewhere. With Abernathy and Miller committed, also Martin still in play, I'm not sure the coaches ever even planned on taking 4 CBs. Abernathy is a sure thing. Most feel Martin is a Vol in the end. IMO it comes down to Miller sticks or Amadi takes his place. That 3rd CB IMO is just gravy IF they sign one.

well that's a huge let down

His CBs are 92% for UT. Why are people thinking we won't get him?

I think his CBs were closer to 100% to UT when he picked Ole Miss. IMO the slow playing early on is what would have cost UT Amadi IF he ends up elsewhere. Had the staff just let him commit 8-9 months ago, he would IMO be a Vol today. Tough to blame a kid for holding a bit of a grudge when he now has a lot of options to choose from.

Could be a situation where Amadi and Phillips chose LSU and Butch moved Kirklands announcement up to smooth the pain. If we don't get Phillips we still get Walker, and a great chance w Justin Martin (the best DB prostpect on our board) especially if Amadi goes LSU.

I don't think that's the case right now. Butch still has a weekend with Phillips left.
