'15 TN CB Ugo Amadi

It is pretty entertaining that he and his family are touting academics as a reason for his decision when LSU football academics are not all that impressive.

Then again, anyone who has been around this kid could probably surmise academics aren't high on his personal priority list.

Some of you guys are sad. Kid gets a full ride to LSU and y'all ridicule him and say he can't play. I don't know if he can play or not but good for him for getting his education paid for-- I really really hope we land Phillips but I'm not going to knock this kid over his choice. Most of you morons are jealous and wish you had such a choice

I don't think I have ever or will ever ridicule a kid personally because many of us don't know them. Most of them I can't comment on athletically because I don't spend the time to watch film. However, this site sets up individual threads to comment on a kid's athletic talent. You can call it sour grapes or whatever after the fact. But this very thread is set up to comment on his ability. He should go where he wants to go. Schools, including UT, don't want someone who isn't 100% invested in that school. JMO.

The funny part is, no one is worried about Ugo's commitment. Everyone in this thread turned their attention to Kyle Phillips right after his announcement.

This. He's not a big deal at all, it's his supposed connection to Phillips that mattered.

I wonder if LSU will drop him if he doesn't deliver Phillips as promised? I wouldn't be surprised at all if they do.

Purely speculation, but that is probably why we slow played him earlier in the year. We only wanted him if we knew we could get Phillips or knew that we could get Phillips without him.

It would be crazy if Phillips committed to us and then Martin committed to us because Ugo added another CB. Don't know that will happen but would really backfire on LSU.

Being in the Mid-State with the corn dog fans around the Tennessean newspaper here is saying Chief is "talking" to TAMU about the DC position for 1.7 mil which is $400,000 more than LSU offered him. NOLA and Texas sites both are saying "talks" are serious. The one in Texas said Sumlin, while in Memphis for the Liberty Bowl, stated he would have his DC hired by the end of this week.

What if Chief leaves LSU after the bowl game and goes west to A&M? Does that affect Phillips, Amadi, Martin and their decision? Personally I would think as a player it might make me question it some, especially if Chief hired away my position coach by chance at RedStick.

I think if Chief does leave then all this is not over yet. Only time will tell if he says or goes though.

Amadi is also being recruited because he can impact the return game. The coaches like his skills there better than his talent at DB.

That being said shorter guys can still be tough players. I don't get the knock or downplaying on this kid. He'll be a good contributor wherever he goes. These sour grapes making some of yall talk funny..

Honey badger from LSU was a BEAST & he was only like 5'8!!!

Kids going to be twice what honey badger was. Will go on to be a better lock down corner than Dick Sherman

That might be an exception to the norm. Right now White is doing a very good job, he might not get the INTs but most teams don't even throw his way.... he is a small slight frame 5'10 guy. Generally, smaller than that is going to be tough sell at CB long term. LSU preferred Mathieu at Nickel and Safety but he did play single cover at CB at times.

Smaller players can be more effective if your team tailors around their skill set, LSU did it with Mathieu and Holiday to get them on the field. I think it depends on the player and the team philosophy.

With that said, generally the game is going to larger DBs to compete with the larger WRs, but maybe we are about to witness a reversal of that trend... Odell Beckham is a very small WR in the NFL and those large DBs are have a tough time.... he loses those guys with very little effort.

So much for that fence around the state.

I think they would all go to Ole Miss.

Ugo said academics were a huge part in his decision. He said LSU has top notch academics. Not an academics guru but aren't they bottom 2 in the SEC??
