'15 TN LB Brant Mitchell

A WO has nothing to do with the 85. They don't take up a scholarship so one does not become available if they leave/graduate.

It's safe to say 3-5 more spots will become available. Looking at the JRs on the roster, I have a VERY hard time seeing more than a handful of guys who would look/be told to look elsewhere. Randolph? Pig? McNeil? I just don't see it. I honestly see 2-3 names I think could be possible. That's about it IMO.

I don't wanna name names, but off the top of my head I can think of 5-6 who could walk and few, if any, would bat an eyelash. I think 5 will be the over/under of guys who decide to take their talents elsewhere.

But I do think 2015 won't be a very large class. That's my necessarily a bad thing if a good majority of the talent we've brought in develops.

Edit: I will name positions though. I can think of

2 WRs
1 RB
1 QB
1 DE
2 LBs

Who I wouldn't be surprised to see transfer before signing day.

IMO, Brant is a take all day long. Saw him play in person 3 times last year while watching TKJr. Kid is relentless and has a mean streak that serves him well at Mike LB. He's plenty fast enough and strong tackler.

It's going to come down to numbers for a lot of these kids. Would the coaches take Brant now vs waiting on a guy like DeBerry? Would Mitchell be a take over Anderson who is a legacy? Kirkland, Simmons, Baker, and several others still on the board. Dews and where he ends up(DE/OLB) could play into the outcome as well with the 2015 LB class.

i think most are saying he is a take, but not at this moment. if we take 2-3 LBs, we already have 1 with Cecil Cherry. that leaves 1 or 2 spots and guys like Ricky DeBerry are high on us. not to mention, Brant is a MLB... and Cherry and DeBerry could both end up on the inside as well. And just like LV said, we have to wait and see how many guys leave the program before we can take a bunch at a certain position

Is he the absolute best MLB on the UT board not counting Cherry? IMO that is the question and to take him now, the answer would have to be Yes. I don't think that is the case. Also with them taking quite a few LBs in 2014, maybe it becomes a best available at LB as a whole not so much by OLB vs MLB. I would think DeBerry is #1 on the board. I think Anderson is very high because of the legacy ties. Say they can only add 2 more LBs for the 2015 class, is Brant one of the best 2-3 available? If he was, I feel he would already be committed. JMO

I think we take 4 LBs in this class... 2 OLBs and 2 ILBs.

Cherry already in the fold. Carl Tucker looks to be a LB. Ricky DeBerry looks promising right now.

That leaves 1 spot.... I would like to see Mitchell get a spot, but I'm not sure where he's at on the coaches board.

Is Keaton Anderson a take over Brant? I think that's what it comes down to.

Depends if Dews is projected at OLB or DE. I questioned the GS of Dews knowing the LB/DE options that looked favorable for the Vols in 2015. I still question it, but it is what it is. Hopefully Dews grows into and or becomes what the coaches think he is capable of.

Not sure how the staff views Mitchell vs Anderson. Anderson did hold an offer before Mitchell got one, that could be for any number of reasons though.
