Every account said Dobbs needed a ton of work in practice. Every. Single. Site. 247. VQ. Scout. Not everything is a clear picture. Not sure why people can't understand this.

That's true… but some people look attrocious in practice, then when the lights come on and they come alive and throw up big stats and look great!!

Correct, and that's pretty much what happened with Dobbs. He hadn't shown his full potential in practice. No one saw this coming. I think it's unfair to blame the coaches on this one. There is no way Dobbs was balling out in practice the way he has in games.

Right. But when you look atrocious in practice, you think you'll see the field when someone looks better?

He was simply trying to save Dobbs red shirt for these sec and natty championship runs we have in 2015-2017... Because that is really the only true goal that means something for any Tennessee football squad

This was posted on an Ole Miss message board. I had to lol.

Been reflecting on the Drew Richmond recruitment and pondering some things that may need to be considered. Ole Miss is an elite program still needing depth. With our first team talent we were a legitimate national championship contender. Even with our injury attrition, we still won nine games and had victories over top twenty teams. Next year we will add more depth and be in much better shape and finish stronger. UT is far away from his home and the program is always looking at next year. They haven't arrived and they way they're over-signing and having people leave, they may never arrive. A team needs continuity and caring coaches. Tennessee may alway be waiting on next year. Ole Miss is continuing to build something special. Should Drew Richmond decide to sign with us, he'll be part of it. If not, he'll miss out. We will continue to be an elite program and do hope he's with us.

Lol they have 1 top twenty five season and now they're "elite"

Because, we went to the Orange and White game last spring and we saw firsthand that Dobbs was a playmaker, throwing and running, and in this system it's essential to have a DT QB. Dobbs should have been inserted into the GA came when Worley got hurt.

Guys, this one's over. Distance and Parents were the hurdle with Ole Miss, and Butch has convinced the parents. He's All VOL.

I would really like to believe this, but I'm not getting my hopes up until he signs the LOI and sends it to Butch!

@KM1_Era: I can't sleep without apologizing to @CoachHughFreeze and Ole Miss they were my first offer and my tweet was disrespectful. Live and learn.

although this was the right thing to do, I love the swagger Kahlil and Preston are bringing to this team. I got a feeling they'll be the two guys on our team that the rest of the SEC hates.

this 2015 recruiting class will be the core of a national title team. I can just feel it.

I think this was the reason as well. Butch knew we were just one more awesome recruiting class away from challenging for it all and he wasn't sure he would have a QB after Dobbs so he tried to save him.

I think the failed redshirt year worked itself out in the end anyway. Josh got much needed experience and confidence last season that will help him much more in 2015 and 2016 then he would've gotten from having a potential 5th year of eligibility.

Plus a QB who dominates for 2 seasons will go to the draft anyways so I don't think we lost much.

Drew Richmond went up the HILL to see what he could see
And all he heard while he was there was "Drew, come to Tennessee!"
He sat right down and searched his heart then made a couple calls.
The first to say "I'm sorry but..." and the last to say "GO VOLS!!"

Astro also provided the spark that helped us end skrong and boost recruiting.

This x 1000!! I think the whole staff thought we could get 6 wins with Worley and peterman if necessary. And that was the goal this year, a bowl game.

Correct answer IMO. If Jake was going to scheme and call the plays he did, the only QB he had to execute it properly was Dobbs. The problem was he had a scheme and plays that would have worked better with Worley. I have seen both distinctly different styles used by Butch in his previous stops. Had he emphasized the west coast passing game that also worked the middle of the field with quicker timing passes, Worley would have been more successful as would have the O-line in protecting him. That did not happen for more than a game or two each season.

DR will have to work on his conditioning and footwork to prepare for the style that Butch has committed to with the recruitment of the incoming QB's. There will be very little confusion going forward that mobile or DT QB's will be what happens.
