'15 TN RB Ke'Shawn Vaughn

Nearly any great team is going to have a stable of running backs. Remember the days of Lewis, Stephens and Henry or Garner, Stewart and Hayden.

It'd be great to have Ke'Shawn pick the Vols.

I am all for a stable of quality RBs. I just rather the staff spread them out roster wise. Taking 6 in 2 years just is too much IMO. You are almost setting yourself up to force transfers. Take maybe 2 per year and you have 7-9 RBs always on the roster. Seeing as 2 maybe 3 play at the most, you're fine. Much rather see 1-2 a year than 3 in back to back years and then not getting any the following year.

I am not 100% sold on Reid being the guy atp. Wouldnt hurt to take another solid RB this class if we have room and miss out on other needs.

Snag Vaughn then worry about only taking 1-2 from here on out. There will only be 6 legit RBs on the roster next year anyway if they take Vaughn.

I really like him turn up the heat on him. That might make love move up a decision. I'd say take who ever wants to commit first.

Please tell me what you are seeing to think Reid is not worth a spot in this class. You people are ridiculous sometimes.

Wont Kamara be in the class ahead of Jalen?

I agree. JMO, but taking three this year seems like it could hurt us in recruiting RBs next year.

A bird in hand...

Next year, you take the one RB you want. You can be ultra-selective.

Maybe.

Even that 1 RB you want may very well listen to all the negative recruiting pointing to Tennessee taking (6) RBs in just 2 years. Getting 1 in 2016 after taking 5 would be tough IMO. Getting one after taking 6 would be near impossible unless it's just a local kid who would be a Vol no matter what the roster/depth chart looked like.

I know names are being mentioned, but I don't think the staff takes a 3rd RB for 2016 no matter who wants to commit.

UGA & AL got no worries about that.

We need piles of RB's, and those programs prove that if you are winning, you can do it

UGA took 1 RB in 2011, 2 in 2012, 1 in 2013, and 2 in 2014. 21 commits so far in 2015, and they have 1 RB committed.

Bama took 2 in 2011, 3 in 2012, 4 in 2013, and 1 in 2014. 21 commits so far in 2015 and they have 1 RB committed.

The issue with Bama's numbers is of those 10 RBs they took over that 4 year span, only 5 are still there.

Finished your post on Bama's RBs, LV.

Yeah, I figured there were various reasons. I thought I read where the one they tried to take last year did not qualify. Of course Kamara was one, and he is now headed to UT. I'm not sure what the "medical scholarships" actually mean. At some point can they get back on the field or is it just a way to drop a kid but still cover his college education?

I'd really like to land this guy. He would probably start for Vandy his first year if they land him.

Should have put it in the blue font. Kind of a running joke with Saban dealing with recruits who aren't working out...they get "injured".

I'm going to explain why you take 3 RB's this year. Next season, other than Hurd, what do we know that we have in the backfield for sure. The coaches are seeing what they have in Scott and Paulk everyday. Paulk may be fully healthy and a beast next season, but that is not a definite. Scott is a scat back, not an every down SEC back (think Keith Marshall at best). I think the coaches are looking for that Mike Davis, Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb type back (physical build) to go with Hurd. Plus, if he stays healthy, Hurd is gone after his junior season. Vaughn could be that type of back. Metro schools are terrible when it comes to S&C. After a year in our program he could be about 220 and a beast.

Keith Marshall is not a scat back though. hes about 5'11 215lbs. He has the most speed of their backs but he just doesnt get the ball alot. I dont think Derrell is a "scat back" either. Yes, i agree he is prob not an every down back but by the time next yr rolls around he may be about 5'11 205lbs or close to it. Hope we get Vaughn.

Rocky Reid has that physical build that the UT staff is/was looking for and is already around that 220LB mark. I also think the concept that you keep taking more and more kids at a position because "you don't know what you have" is just wasting spots. The coaches have to trust their evaluations and in taking 5 RBs in 2014 and 2015 trust they have SEC caliber players.

I like Vaughn, I really do. Before taking Kamara, he was one I mentioned taking several times. Love the fact he is local. Before I took a 6th RB in 2 years, I would take another LB, CB, OL, or possibly even a WR.

i agree vaughn is already about 210lbs and i could see him play at about 215lbs.

Reid is already about 220

and Paulk is like a bowling ball.

Kamara is about 210lbs.

we already know what Jalen Hurd is about

i like how we are getting some physical backs again
