Nobody knows why. We just aren't recruiting him. He would've been very interested had we done so. Now is most likely too late.

Reasons: They like and are confident in other TEs either on the team or being recruited; they don't see him as the highly rated player he is.

It happens to plenty of players each year in recruiting, it just sucks a little more because he is in Tennessee and is a good kid.

Look at that sawyer a link above us.. Dude got abused bad. Chris Clark is the best TE in the class and is pretty high on us.

Just moved here 9 months ago so I don't have any insight yet. I plan to go see him this fall though. Last fall I was occupied with going to Independence games for obvious reasons. This year will be Harris and Ordway's turn.

I totally agree! I think he would have been a great TE for UT. He's more of an old school TE and maybe that's not what they want. Apparently the kid has been really working hard to get stronger and faster. It will be interesting to see what progress he has made. Jackson has many great offers and I wish him the best wherever he chooses to go. I think his top five are Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Clemson. LSU just offered. Don't know if they are in the mix. Maybe we can get Clark or wait till 2016.

Probably will get told to merge this but what exactly is the deal with Jackson Harris? He's from Columbia, Tennessee and is a 4 star prospect and UT is not even on the radar with him. Bama, FSU, UGA, etc. are after him hard and we seem to be nowhere in the hunt. Is CBJ looking over him after signing Helm and Wolf last year? Is he just not interested in the Vols because he got dissed by them in the past? Anybody out there have some info?

He doesn't even show up on Glichtenwalter's VN Vol Commits/Prospects list:

For whatever reason Butch hasn't offered and it doesn't appear that he will. Maybe he doesn't quite fit the scheme? Maybe they're comfortable with Helm and Wolf and will only take a TE they see as elite in '15? No one knows for sure why they're not recruiting Harris but they aren't and I'm sure they have a good reason why.

Maybe he is a silent committ to Tennessee and they are keeping it hush hush to make it look like they steal him last minute from Bamaterds.

I am not sure why it's that big of a deal. With our smaller class and with the types of players that we are recruiting, we will miss on great players, even in-state. This is one that our staff just chose not to pursue from the beginning. I think this staff has proven they know what they are doing. Just enjoy the ride.

Maybe they've tried to contact him and he's given them the cold shoulder. Maybe they have some indication that it's a waste of time?

Looks like he trimmed his list to bama, uga, candy, and uf.

Still a bit odd to me he was never offered, but it does look like the rest of the SEC likes him.

For some reason this has a Vandy feel to it. I don't think Bama would take him since they just landed Hentges.

He seems to have done well keeping people guessing if you look at the CB stuff. Lots of uga recently, uf predictions coming in today. I honestly have no idea about this one. I would think playing at uf or uga would be better than candy, but the kid being instate you never know.

My thinking was he puts Vandy in his list against those 3 names to make it look like a huge recruiting win for Vandy over those schools. Flip side is he puts Vandy in the list so he doesn't feel any extra pressure to stay home, like he would if he didn't have them in his final list.
