not just his mom either, i've seen a lot of good kids get some independence out from under controlling parents and not handle it well. no idea how meddling she is in other aspects of his life but it seems that with the most important decision in his life the kid had little say in where he went. Oh well other people's problem now. I wish the kid the best unless he plays us.

As a father I would talk with my wife if my son had his heart set on going to a school that she didn't like not matter if it was UT or not as long as I wasn't paying for tuition. I want my son to be happy and be his own man and learn how to make decisions for himself. That's a part of becoming a man. It's hard for parents to let go and I get it. I personally don't know how I will handle it when my son goes off to college. He's my boy and I would do what I could to make him happy even if it means going toe to toe with mom.
