'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Nothing against Dormady, but from his highlights he doesnt look like Bray. Just as accurate as Bray, maybe more, but I dont see Brays arm strength.

Doesn't mean he cant play.

It would have been unbelievable...but Dooley would have still screwed it up.

What if "Smart Bray" saved Dooley's job?

Smart Bray might have been able to win the SEC East with the receivers he had that year.

I'm pretty sure if we won the SEC East the orange pants would have still been around at UT circa 2014.

Nothing could save Dooley's job.
If Justin Hunter had not gotten hurt early in 2011, we had a team that could have taken the SEC E, and many here don't realize it. That was a dangerous offense. The Cincinnati game showed it. And our defense under Wilcox was pretty decent...tough enough to hold good teams down for much of the game, while the offense went off on folks. Problem was, we were paper thin depth-wise, so we needed a potent offense to mask it.

Hunter staying healthy would have saved Dooley...so would Da'Rick Rogers keeping his nose clean while here...for a few more years, anyway. Hunter, Rogers and Patterson would have been extremely tough to stop, even with our bad defense.

We would have beaten Florida, UGA and USCjr in 2012 if Rogers was still on that team

The Sal Sunseri factor needs to be added to this scenario. His defensive scheme could change enough to allow opposing teams to always score more than UT. It was amazing actually :hi:

You can't properly evaluate a qb's accuracy based on his highlights. Every pass is a completion. Accuracy evaluation requires a bigger body of work (i.e. seeing a kid play live, throwing at a camp, overall completion percentage, etc.) all factored in together.

And yes, he was just a sophomore. Plenty of time for that arm to develop. Going to have a breakout senior season.

True but he made some throws into tight windows that were extremely accurate.

However, I just dont see him having Brays arm strength at any point based on what ive seen and the fact that he just came off of rehab on hIs shoulder. I very well could be wrong but I dont see him hitting a pass like the one to Zro against NC State.

I think the arm strength issue will be put to bed pretty quickly when his season starts.

Bray was a stick when he came in, Dormady is a big kid, physically mature now. I'm not taking anything away from Tyler either he could sling it.

Arm strength is deceptive. Some of the skinniest pitchers can hit 90 in high school. Bray as a stick figure could whip it just as hard as when he bulked up. It's not so much a weight thing, some people just have an arm that can throw really hard.

Ok but have u seen him throw since then? Didnt he have shoulder surgery? What proof do u have that his arm strength has im proves that much?

I will accept Peyton Manning and John Gruden's assessment over yours.

That film is from his sophomore year in HS, so you are comparing your memory of Bray's arm strength as a college player with a HS sophomore.

FWIW, those who saw him throw at the Gruden camp said he had a cannon. So two years difference in physical maturity and weight and strength training has apparently made a difference.

What are you basing this off of? 10th grade film or something newer? Very curious...

True and even as a stick thin Freshman Bray could laser it into the WR. That said I don't think arm strength will be an issue for Dormady and it's not just physical build that makes me say that.

It might be the orange koolaid, but I keep getting more excited about Dormady. Pair a good passing qb with our future all star receivers, then throw in Richmond and you have an offense that can score a lot on anyone.
