'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Dormady said Saturday’s visit was particularly important for him because he’s not sure how often he’ll be able to make the approximately 17-hour drive to Tennessee's campus. He said he plans to get back to Knoxville “as much as I can,” but his official visit this fall might “be the only time that I’ll be able to get up here” once he begins his senior season.

He said he’s “thinking about” taking his official visit for the weekend of the Vols’ home game against Florida on Oct. 4, “because that’s my bye week.”

“I’m sure that’s probably when it’ll be,” Dormady added.

Since committing to Tennessee, he said he has “pretty much shut down” his recruitment, and none of the other schools that previously had been recruiting him have stayed in contact with him. He admitted he’s now relieved to know where he’s going, and he feels better than ever about his decision to play for the Vols.

“I feel a lot better, just getting it off my shoulders — all that weight —*and getting to know the guys that I’m going to play with. I’m definitely happy,” Dormady said.

“This is the place I feel like I needed to be. … I mean, I’m coming here. I tried to make that known. I made that decision for a reason. He basically talks about building relationships with current commits. To make the transition easier when he arrives on campus.

This just about answers any questions I have about the decision and character. He can now go out and improve as a player until it is time to report. Happy, happy, happy.

Ain't nothing wrong with any of that at all. Kid is a leader and will be in Orange. Ball out this year Quinten! We Vols are hoping to see you putting up some big numbers as a SR! :pepper:

Dormady is doing his part in recruiting for this class and his strong commitment to UT will only help land stud WR Van Jefferson and keep stud WR Preston Williams.

Arm strength is deceptive. Some of the skinniest pitchers can hit 90 in high school. Bray as a stick figure could whip it just as hard as when he bulked up. It's not so much a weight thing, some people just have an arm that can throw really hard.

This. Saw this and wanted to share a personal story. My little brother Mark was a left handed pitcher who stood 6'6" in tenth grade (6'8" now), weighed 175 pounds. I met MANY scouts from MLB teams, and more than a few college baseball head coaches. I also saw them put Mark on the mound and hold a radar gun on his fastball. 90-93 mph was his norm, also had a ridiculous curve that would start at your eyes and end at your knees and a pretty good slider. His dream school was Miami (don't ask, I still to this day don't know why, lol). He had a full ride to GT guaranteed as soon as he could accept it....but never got that offer from Miami, so he decided that hanging out with his boys and doing drugs was more important. I asked him about a year ago (after a jail stint), "Mark..do you have ANY idea how much money you could have right now?? Teams would literally have come to you with a blank contract and told you 'what do YOU want us to pay you'....and you could have named your price. "

I know, I know.....tl;dr. Moral of the story: drugs are stupid, beat your kids to make them stay in school, and don't sleep on the skinny kids.

You know why I like this thread? Because it is just Vol fans talking good about a Vol recruit. There isn't a bunch of conjecture or condescending turdstains in here bashing the kid for no reason.

I cannot wait until QD's senior season. Saban is going to wish he got this guy.

Call me impatient but I don't want to wait 5-6 years. Think we give Bama all they want in 2015 and take them down in 2016.

I'm still betting on a 6-6 season, but I think we give 'bama all they can handle this year. Won't predict a V but do think we start meshing as a unit before the bammer game.

True but he made some throws into tight windows that were extremely accurate.

However, I just dont see him having Brays arm strength at any point based on what ive seen and the fact that he just came off of rehab on hIs shoulder. I very well could be wrong but I dont see him hitting a pass like the one to Zro against NC State.

Dormady has a very strong arm. And yes it was his Sophomore year, and very early into his Sop yr at that. Honestly he doesn't have to have Bray's arm strength anyway, just better than what Worley and Dobbs have, which he did by his Soph yr in HS. Arm Strength is supposed to be one of his better attributes and I'm sure it will be even stronger by time he gets on csmpus.

Agreed. Hate to say it but if we get to Dormady's sr year not having done better than 6-6 and still not beaten Ala we will have a new Coach in there. Think 2015 is the yr we really start making noise and by 2016 the skies the limit.

I think he was talking about QD's senior season in high school. Saying that he is gonna show out and really improve his stock.

His arm looks about the same as Dobbs in the highlights, granted I haven't seen him throw in person so I can't say it hasn't improved.

I think that he comes from good stock so I think that he'll stay with commit. When he does blow up his senior season and his stock goes to 5* status there will be a lot of schools trying to worm their way in his living room.

Confirming what has been posted previously in this thread, Doug Matthews said that in the end, UT will only sign 2 QBs in this class, Jauan Jennings and Quinten Dormady.

According to Matthews, UT will not accept the commitment of Torrance Gibson should he commit. He said that Gibson has some character concerns and that UT has told Jauan Jennings that he will be the only dual threat QB that UT signs in this class and that UT has told both Jennings and Dormady that they will be the only 2 QBs signed in this 2015 recruiting class. Jennings has been told that he will be given at least one full season to learn and prove himself at QB. After then, should he want to move to another position, he could do so.

Will you stop lying in every thread. Mathews said he is guessing and doesn't really follow recruiting and no one told him that in the program.

Where do you see Gibson fitting? He will be behind both ee qbs, and were going for Van at WR.

You're assuming Gibson cannot be better than either JJ or QD. Thats a fallacy. He could come in and be better than both. Also how do you know TG is not a better WR than Van? Fact is nobody knows these things.
