'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Just in case you missed the news, Torrance Gibson was scheduled to be in Norman last night on an official visit to Oklahoma. But, he did not make it in. It seems that according to NCAA rules, you cannot take an official visit to a school without having a qualified test score, which he does not have. It is entirely possible that he may not go anywhere except JUCO after his senior year.

Torrance Gibson is not the answer to our issues. The answer is a strong, experienced offensive line. Wait another year or so and i think you will see it.
Not only that, but at least 2 sites have hinted, but not directly have said it, that TG has a handler

I'm curious to know more about Dormady's game. I'm not worried about the recent picks he's thrown, I feel more than comfortable that he'll be able to make the necessary throws in CBJ's offensive scheme.

What I'd like to know is can he run... Will he bring that dimension to our offense?

Listen, 7 picks in 3 games is definitely concerning. I wouldn't make any judgment without actually seeing the gametape though. They could've been tipped or WR's fault or blind side hits while he was releasing etc etc.

He's the whole schmabob down there...you know that kid that got nervous and dropped everything thrown to him, but made up for it by missing blocks and assignments? They're superstars at Boerne.

I get that you're against the whole TG thing for whatever reason, but if you're going to be skeptical about one then why not the other? 7 INTs this early in the season is a concern, I don't care what QB you're talking about. TG plays scary competition every week but you won't give him an ounce of credit.

If Dormady keeps playing this way and doesn't turn it on we will consider TG. We have been making excuses here at UT for a few seasons now and it's time to play, not recruit another QB who were going to have to make more excuses about.. :peace2::peace2::peace2:

Or better yet, look at it like this. If you're a coach and you're choosing between two QBs, one that is less talented but carries no drama, but one who is really electric but has drama issues which would you take? Technique and skills carry over to ones personality, sort of like how Ainge acted before Cutcliffe got ahold of him and straightened him out. Why don't you (Butchna) think that Butch isn't capable of doing the same thing?

I am a Dormady and Gibson fan. I think QD will be good. However after watching our offense it seems many people are complaining about our read option plays. The complaint is that JW will not keep it and it's not keeping defenses honest. I agree that JW does not keep it enough.

My issue is this, if CBJ is going to continue with the read option, why wouldn't fans want a QB that would more than keep defenses honest? Gibson is absolutely electric with the ball in his hands. I have never understood why fans would not want that.

Jennings is also electric running the ball.

I think Butch is capable of deciding who is better...and already has. :)

The point is, he has the same skill yet. And he gets better every game.

It's time to move on from TG, man.

TG may not come here, who knows. We thought Lambert would be a Vol. If TG picks somewhere else then so be it.

I think JJ is a great player and his skill set is similar but no offense, it's just never going to be on Gibsons level. That is in no way a knock on JJ.

Sure, he isn't as fast as Gibson and his arm is slighty weaker.

That does not mean he won't out work Gibson and become a better QB. He improves every single game and he's busting his ass.

Whether you choose to believe it or not, the coaching staff let up on Gibson. Jennings' progress could play a small role in that.

Y'all were already warned that there would be certain struggles because his Oline is awful so there would be rushed throws or forced at times. So shouldn't be suprised at the INTs

This. Every bit of this. These kids are far from the finished product. They both have the potential to develop into good college quarterbacks. They both have the tools. It will come down to how bad they want it. Gibson is quicker. He probably has a slightly better arm as well. Jennings, however, is a smart player who has a great work ethic. I think he has an advantage over Gibson in that area. That is no knock on Gibson whatsoever. You can just see how drastically Jennings is improving and tell he has worked extremely hard.

Good Lord if you cant see Dormady had a ton of potential i just dont know what to say

Not to mention we are going to need a decent line for a quarterback of any caliber to succeed. A great line would be even better.. And I'm not talking about the great Dooley line. I mean a line that can run block lol

Last year's line was very good.
