'15 VA DE/OLB Ricky DeBerry

Winning more games this year and showing some improvement on the field will help big time in recruiting this year as well. I think a lot of the recruit like the buzz with UT and the staff but want to see what they do this year.

Me too.

It sure did. Very important to get a couple of those types in the fold early. Guys like DeBerry and really any of the big name QB's they are in on would really get things going IMO.

Imagine locking up deberry on D and Gibson on O. This class would take off on both sides of the ball!

Him cutting his schools to 18 is not that ridiculous when you think about it. He has 50 offers, you have to start somewhere.

I know, and I understand he's just a kid. It's just that these "top school" reveals have become so comical. At the end of the day, a 17 year old kid is as flippant as he comes and his list of top schools will change so many times over the course of the next six months.

At this point, unless it's a top 5 or less, I'm not putting much stock into these reveals.

"I know this is a lot of schools but I know that these are definitely the ones that I have an interest in," said the 6-foot-2, 237-pound DeBerry. "I know want to narrow thing down again over the summer but for now these are the ones that I could see myself going to.

"I've been to Clemson, Florida, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech," DeBerry said. "I'm using the spring and the summer to visit more of these schools. I know that on going to Miami or Ohio State on April 17 or 18."

While DeBerry isn't ready to name favorites, Tennessee, Clemson, Florida, South Carolina, Ohio State, Virginia and Virginia Tech are some of the schools he has mentioned more than the others.

"Those are the schools that I've been to the most and talked about them the most," he said. "Going off what they've told me and what I've found out about them, they are in need to linebackers. Virginia and Virginia Tech both want me to stay instate and help bring a national championship to their school. Coach Venables at Clemson has coached a lot of Butkus award winners so he knows what he is doing with his linebackers. I like him a lot and could see myself playing for him. Coach Muschamp at Florida said they are definitely looking for linebackers so I want a chance to get back down there for sure."

Are people really hating on a kid because he trimmed his list to 18? We have a real legit shot at landing this dude.
