I usually enjoy your posts, but seriously. You are way off base on this. There is ZERO evidence that he is a silent. Zero.
We all would "like to think" he is a silent, however, there is zero evidence that he is.
If McKenzie commits to us which I'm confident that he will, do you think this guy will pretty much be a "lock" for us?
I would have to say No.
Chuma, Griffin, and TJ were all going to the same school right? I mean they did mention it on twitter several times.
This will be an interesting one to see play out.
Of course you would have to say no...Tennessee is a long shot for Settle right? We are on the outside looking in and all kinds of negative s***.
Not really anything negative.
I just think he is setting the stage for his recruitment going forward. I think more and more kids see the typical My #1 has been the same for 6 months, now I will put 6 hats on the table and make my announcement. If you put on the hat of the school who has been #1 for 6 months? Wow....as expected. Put out your top list claiming "#1" then pick another school and there is more shock value.
Chuma, "UT is #1". Commits to uscw. There were some shocked people, and a lot of them on this very board.
Harrell, "UT leads". Commits to au. This board goes nuts until news breaks UT was not ready to take him.
I could see this continuing to play out a little bit. We'll see. Twitter followers do come into play if people want to believe it or not.
What extra fame is there to be had? How much more coverage can committing to your listed number 3 team or even number 6 team instead of your listed number 1 team generate? If you're already a 5* nationally followed player it seems the media will talk about you around the same amount of time no matter where you commit. I just don't see where there's any extra beneficial attention to be had in faking it. If forum and twitter chatter are sought it also appears that it would be best to stick it out with us all the way. If they think we give a lot of attention to them as a possible recruit they should see how excited we get when they actually sign the papers.
Sure. Probably so. What I'm getting at though is that in Chuma's case it had nothing to with being slow-played by the staff.
