'15 VA OL Matthew Burrell

We held off on those guys because they aren't an upgrade to what we already have.

Compared to what we have today? Of course not. A HS kid will usually be behind college guys on the OL. Apparently South Carolina and Ole Miss felt they were alright. I think both of those schools OL's would be considered much better than UT's is today. Both schools felt those 2 would benefit them down the road it seems as they were willing to accept their commitments.

Then maybe I am wrong. I thought I read that Newsome himself said that in an interview. Maybe one of the VQ guys could just ask Ryan if it was happening.

If I heard it correctly, a friend of Newsome called in to one of the sports radio shows and said that Newsome said that DR was recruiting him to OM on the sideline at the Bama game. To my knowledge Newsome has not said that publicly.

Frankly, I was a bit suspicious that a player firmly committed to another team was coming to Neyland so many times. If he has been using his visits for a OM agenda, that just makes me sick of him and his nonsense. Hopefully this is not the case.

Hes not announcing today hes getting his AAA Jersey today though.

"Per 247Sports senior writer Jamie Oakes, Woodbridge (Va.) C.D. Hylton Top100 offensive tackle Matthew Burrell was going to announce his college commitment Thursday, which would've came as a surprise with him originally expected to decide late in the process, however he will announce his pledge in the next week. Oakes added that Burrell could even decide as early as Friday."

I haven't kept up with this recruitment and don't want to look back through a bunch of pages but isn't this one of the guys Kahlil trucked at The Opening?

Sounds like they actually became good friends, and Kahlil has been recruiting him to the Hill.

You are right. It was the featured highlight for McKenzie and a lot of us were making fun of Burrell because at the time he wasn't interested in us. Of course a lot on here seem to think he would be our answer on the OL. Doesn't take long for perceptions to change.

Most of us realized Kahlil was going to truck any HS player you stuck in front of him. So we couldn't really use him as a differentiator any more.

I thought the "featured" or highlight that was talked about the most was against the Bama commit...petitbon (sp?)?
