I went back and read what Sr. had written over the summer after Jr. camped..People on here (and Basillio's peeps) made it sound more harsh than it really was using words like "spouting off", "rant", and "furious".When I read it, it sounded more disappointed than mad. What father wouldn't be disappointed? Cut him some slack

Basillio didn't "say" it. A caller said it and Basillio had a couple of his guys he relies on check into it. He was repeating what he was told. He made that pretty clear. Also, looks like Jason Swain has affirmed these thoughts.

It sounded like Swain confirmed that Harper coaxed Cherry to take the visit to Texas. Here's the link:

It's around the 22 minute mark. Everything seems to line up. Harper gets upset that UT doesn't offer AH2. Harper pushes Cherry to take the visit to Texas. Subsequently, Butch, Thig and Jancek re-open the search for LBs and push for Kirkland Jr.

Some former Vol players saw the number of legacies signed last year and assume that Butch needs them in future classes. As the roster fills with better players, the legacies are not needed now as they were last year to get the ball rolling. This could be that Harper had unrealistic expectations and that Junior is just not good enough.
