'16 AL ATH Tadarryl Marshall (FORMER UT commit 4/28/15)

Where's that guy who said he was the best player in the state of Alabama? Lol.

I agree with volonthe plains Samford is a greAt education... It's 20-40,000 a year to go to school there so.... I would go there over UK and play for pat Sullivan for free

As a Samford grad I am glad to see this guy go from the team I pull for to the school I graduated from. Wish him the best.

Samford is probably the only school in Alabama that I actually like. Have actually had occasion to visit there a couple of times through the years. Nice school.

Congrats to Mr. Marshall on getting to play football and get a good education at a good school.

How does this happen? We offer and accept the commitment early from a kid who eventually winds up at Samford? Don't get me wrong, I love what Butch does with recruiting, very difficult and by and large wrong to criticize this part of his job. But somebody (Azzani?) screwed this one up. There's just no way a kid who winds up at Samford should be offered a scholarship from Tennessee. Jmo.

You do realize that this kid had other offers. You do realize that this kid chose to go to Samford. You act like we are the only team to offer him. Please find somewhere else to clutch your pearls and faint.

When my son's team beat TD's Leeds team early in last season, we completely shut him down. Seriously, I believe he had negative yards in the game, and our defense was suspect.

I'm not the only one asking this question. I saw Alabama, Auburn and Mizzou....Were those offers actually committable? Do we know? Because I also saw Western Ky, South Alabama, Samford, Navy, Jacksonville State, Arkansas State, Alabama State, Southern Miss, Cincinnati and Memphis. Based on those other offers, I'd guess no.

It was a legit question but you do what you typically do, which is act like an insufferable ass. Pound sand champ.

Helluva list, wouldn't you say?

But wait.......but wait.....24/7 said he had offers, offers I tell ya.

This kid apparently wants to be close to family. Thats how it happens.

Really? And you think he wouldn't have stayed close to home by heading to Tuscaloosa or Auburn if he could have? I'm not trying to bang on the kid, I'm asking a legit question...a question I've heard elsewhere, about how it happens that we offer a 3 star kid early in the cycle that nobody else that we compete with wants. I know it's an art, not a perfect science, but this one makes little to no sense.

You have to give offers so early now to get a jump on the other teams and some of these kids top out talent wise after there second year in high school.

Agreed if your program is second rate. Getting an early start as that kind of program is very important. The elite programs can afford to wait longer to flex their muscles

The moss and bailey threads are perfect examples

Just sayin, We are not the only SEC team to offer the kid. Calm down bro. A little edgy this morning?

Clearly, those other SEC teams didn't see him as any type of priority and/or the offers weren't commitable.

Nah, I'm not edgy at all. It was a simple question and I had that jackass jump all over it like the punk he typically shows he is.....so I responded somewhat in kind.

Perhaps the answer is its an art not a science. But I know a kid about to commit to Samford....lets just say that while he has good size and is a good athlete, he didn't have a good senior year, he's a good, not great athlete and wouldn't last 10 minutes in Tennessee's program. Coach Elder at Eastern Ky pushed for this kid. To me, it's a waste of our time, of the kid's time, to recruit, offer and accept the commitment of a kid who just can't play at this level. Butch and the boys are obviously outstanding at the recruiting game, at evaluating talent...just not sure how this happens (said in a very calm, very relaxed voice).
