'16 FL CB Tyler Byrd (UT Commit 2/2/16)

Update on Byrd...

I spoke with four-star Miami cornerback commitment Tyler Byrd tonight following his in-home visit with Tennessee coach Butch Jones, running backs coach Robert Gillespie, tight ends coach Larry Scott and defensive backs coach Willie Martinez. Byrd said the visit went well, and he's looking forward to finally seeing for himself what UT has to offer this weekend during his official visit to Knoxville.
Byrd admitted he expects to have some serious thinking to do after his visit to Tennessee. It sounds like he's already a bit torn, and he said he's naturally really intrigued by the opportunity to play at UT alongside Vols running back commitment Carlin Fils-aime since they have lived together since they were in eighth grade.

The 5-foot-11.5, 194-pound Byrd said he still likes Miami, too, but Tennessee already seems to have made a pretty big impression on him. He said he liked what he heard from Jones, and he came away from the in-home visit with an even better idea of why Fils-aime likes the Vols so much. Byrd said he also still has a really good relationship with Scott, who was his primary recruiter at Miami before leaving for Tennessee earlier this month. He said he might have visited the Vols even if Scott hadn't left for UT, but having Scott there definitely pushed the Vols over the top in terms of getting a visit from him.

Regardless of what he decides this weekend, he said he probably will have a decision by next Monday or Tuesday, so there's a good chance he won't wait until signing day to make his final choice.

We'll have a full story on Byrd in the morning.

UT is trying to get to Atlanta and the Playoffs. Miami is losing to Wash St in the doo doo bowl. The trajectories here are complete opposites. Maybe they should go try to find some DTs and OL for their recruiting class. That looks like a dooley class.

Is the "doo doo bowl" a real bowl? If so, does the winner get a golden turd?

aka........toilet bowl?

Lol

Show him the stadium and tell him we fill it up.

Make sure he sees a picture of the fans in the checkerboard.

Fortenberry said this kid can play on either side of the ball, which makes him more valuable than a lot others on the board.

Had a feeling they were looking at him at WR as well. Think I said it earlier in the thread. Hope he gets a shot at both

I was browsing on canesinsight and came across a new thread about the in home visit from tonight. Some guy (mjackson6) claims to have trained crowder, swafford, and Malik foreman. He says that Malik is a lifelong canes fan who hates Martinez and usually hosts the db recruits. He then proceeds to go on about how Butch hits players. I think it's mostly bs, but he does seem to know quite a bit about foreman. https://www.canesinsight.com/showthread.php?t=96847&page=1

That guy has claimed to have trained about 10 current Vol players at "his" facilities in Bristol already today.. Why would our players be traveling and hour and a half to Bristol to "train"?? From the bulls**t he is spewing it sounds like he more of a Jerry Springer for our football players rather than a "trainer".

Kid will be almost 20 by the time he starts class. I was 17 for a good part of 1st year..

Which is a good thing. Think immediate impact.

Calvin Ridley turned 21 right before the cotton bowl. Nothing wrong with an old freshmen if he can ball.

And Tyler Bryd can definitely ball.

He has a better chance of helping us at WR next year than CB. With Cam coming back and Martin playing so well to close the year, the starting 2 CB spots are filled. Plus Moseley and Abernathy look like capable backups. And we have DJ Henderson a ready to play JUCO.

I could him being Jauan Jennings 2.0 for us next year. Play slot WR in 2016 then move to corner in 2017 when Cam graduates.
