'16 FL CB Tyler Byrd (UT Commit 2/2/16)

They'd be fools if they did. We don't consider Vandie a rival and they've beaten us 3 times the last 11 years.

No gonna start a long debate and I'm not going to reply anymore. However, that's a ridiculous comparison. So is the reasoning of thinking that it's no longer a rivalry just because there is a recent steak of losing.
Bama wasn't our rival prior to 2007? Since we were always beating them? Florida State doesn't think Miami is a rival? Ohio State no longer views Michigan a rival? Etc etc etc..... A lot more goes in to a rivalry than current streaks. Big programs that hate each other will always be rivals. The ebb and flow of winning and losing doesn't change that.
Have you seen a Tennessee/Florida football game? Like maybe last year in Gainsville? That's what a rivalry game looks like.

I wouldn't if I was them. We've won 5-6 times in 25 years. Recruits now have seen us win less than that. Is it a big game, yeah because until recently whoever won it won the east but if it's a rivalry we surely aren't holding up our end

Coming to....

We have different view points. I understand your post, makes sense, I get it. But on the other hand, I wouldn't consider someone a rival over a certain period, say 30 or so years, that I beat 8 out of 10 times no matter the circumstances. At some point, I think I'd say "meh, not worried about this cat, I know I'm gonna win, I got bigger fish to fry". I think that's likely where a whole lot of Florida fans, players, coaches, officials, etc are and I understand it. And at some point, the rivalry is one-sided....we consider Florida a rival but they don't return the favor. I think that's by and large where we are right now.

So it looks like their OV is going to be Friday and Saturday? Seems like a pretty good move to get a little extra attention for them.

If that's what's really going on the coach can kiss my butt. It's my future not his. He already has his education and career, Byrd does not, and if he feels it's a better choice for his life then sorry coach you opinion no longer means nothing to me if you are getting in the way of a better choice for me.

Or...he's teaching these kids a life lesson about commitment, loyalty and actually thinking things through before making rash decisions. How dare he be an educator in his position.

It depends on his motivation. If it is as you said, then good for him. If it is because he likes to keep his players in FL, for his own benefit (whatever that may be), as is the case with some of the MS coaches with connections to Ole Miss, then shame on him.

or maybe Byrd feels like UT is a better opportunity for him. At the end of the day the coach doesnt have to live with the decision that he makes. Only Tyler does.
