'16 FL WR Freddie Swain (Florida commit)

LSU has entered the Freddie Swain sweepstakes.

Leveraging the exposure from the Odell Beckham Jr ESPY award, IMO. Bastards.

Local wide receiver Freddie Swain has been rocketing up recruiting boards across the nation after a strong spring and summer. Florida is one of those teams that has moved him up their board in the past few months. However, the Gators have seemingly struggled to gain much traction with Swain.

Tennessee is considered the team to beat for Swain at this time. However, Florida feels they are much more in the race that what most say. Reports out of Knoxville say the Vols are worried about the Gators, and they too feel Florida is a serious player for Swain.

He visited Florida twice in June with an expected return to the Swamp Friday night. That easy access to campus certainly will play into Florida’s favor as this recruitment carries on.

Four-star receiver Freddie Swain certainly fits the bill. He's on campus today for Friday Night Lights, and the Gators are trying to hammer away at his recruitment.

Swain's open to listening and described what he hopes to get out of the visit to 247Sports' Luke Stampini.

"Get a little bit more time with the coaches, talk with the coaches and see if I can see myself in orange and blue," he said.

Florida has worked hard to make headway, but Tennessee is still considered the leader. Swain even arrived on campus sporting a Volunteers wristband.

Still, he hasn't yet ruled out Florida.

"It's nice because it's close to home," he said. "It's always nice to have the Gators in your back pocket."

The Gators' recruiting pitch?

"That I can come here and play," Swain said. "Just stay focused and make the best decision for myself."

What exactly has put the Vols in such good position for the 6-foot, 172-pound Citra (Fla.) North Marion star? Relationships.

"Tennessee, I'm still good with coach [Zach Azzani]," Swain said. "I talk with coach Z every two or three days. We've got a good relationship."

In the end, Swain's decision will likely come down to two key factors.

"I've got to feel at home and have early playing time," he said.

Swain is rated as the No. 199 overall player in the nation.

Wide receiver Freddie Swain (Citra, Fla./North Marion) said Tennessee, Miami and Florida are now "tied on top."

Swain still plans to announce October 29.

The Crystal Ball reads 83-percent for Tennessee and 17-percent for USC.

A recent trip to Florida for 'Friday Night Lights' moved the Gators back up for a prospect they led for early in the process.

"It's good," Swain said of Florida. "It looks good with them right now. They are showing love and calling. They are showing me what role I would be there. I talk to (wide receivers) coach (Kerry) Dixon and coach (Jim) McElwain."

Tennessee has sat in a good position for Swain since the spring.

"I feel good there," Swain said. "I feel I can be the man as soon as I step foot on campus."

Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard keeps the Hurricanes in the lead group.

"I think great things are going to happen at the University of Miami," Swain said. "Coach Beard likes my body control and the way I separate from the defense."

Swain said he will "most likely" take official visits to Florida, Tennessee and Miami before his fall decision date.

He said he doesn't have dates set up for those official visits yet.

He said he's going to save his other two official visits dates for the winter, pending possible coaching changes.

Since the Swamp is in his back yard, I'm guessing Gators here.
