Richt has come across as a smug azz hole from day one to me.

In a poll of 98 FBS coaches, Mark Richt — along with Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops — was voted as the coach that the other coaches would want their son to play for.
The same can be said about Danyell Hardman.

Somehow everybody has ignored the first couple of sentences. Looks like Richt has the entire country fooled. Even Butch Jones would let his son be a Dawg!

After reading the article I came away very impressed with the parents. Regardless of where Mecole ends up I really like reading articles about a big time recruit having great parents.

To say that even Butch would let his son play for Richt is going over the top. Yes Richet is a good coach with good morals but let's not kid ourselves there are ppl behind the scenes that get the recruits to EVERY college in the big 5. I know bc I was in these same 17 and 18 year old kids place when I came out of high school. And GBO.

Where did you play college football?

Just because Butch likes or respects Richt as a coach doesn't mean he would want his son to be a dawg.

Plus I'm pretty sure much of the staff is Catholic (or maybe episcopal, which is basically Catholicism with chick-priests and less guilt). Catholics are usually pretty casual and not into the whole evangelical-gotta-convert-everyone-in-sight kind of Christianity. Plus they usually like to party and have a good time.

Edit: this was supposed to be a response to one of WiseGuys posts about Butch and Co not being really churchy

Guys, don't buy this BS of Butch needs to get his team together. Imagine what she would have thought of Dooley? Butch can't babysit college kids 24/7. At some point, players have to be responsible for themselves. I'd worry about Butch too, if I didn't know that he chewed butt not a week ago over the off the field issues. If Hardman's mom wants him at UGA, then so be it. We as UT can't be worried over certain players not wanting to be here. It happens, and some of our fanbase members are embarrassing when a 18 year old goes somewhere different. Let's not be the sore loser everyone points out. Have some dignity. We are TENNESSEE. We have a coach who has huge moral values. We are in good hands.
I believe that but it doesn't matter what we believe when it comes to landing this kid.

Can someone explain the Helen Hunt references?

Yes. I know someone who is trying to get Butch to help with a Catholic charity or organization. Butch's Dad was a police chief, so he is familiar with the legal process and being disciplined.

Richt is a good Christian man, but it's not like his players haven't been out of control the last decade. That only goes so far.

Cool.

So since you are stating as fact that Butch voted for Richt, because surely you wouldn't state something as fact when it is just a statistical assumption, can you please post the other 97 votes? TIA.

Also, Richt voted for Butch and wants his dins to be Vols.

Cool how that works :hi:

UGA is always up there in the Fulmer Cup which measures run ins with law enforcement. They won the thing in 2010. This season has kind of been the exception to the rule where UGA has had no off the field instances but generally UGA ranks lower than UT as far as off the field issues. IDK if I fault Richt or Butch though on that, you can do a lot as a head coach but in the end at some point these kids make their own decisions.

You should really stop referring to it by that name, seeing how Fulmer never won it. I don't believe UT has won it under any coach, for that matter.
