'16 GA ATH Kyle Davis

Jones has said publicly and probably emphasizes privately that while they would like to rotate as many as 9 WR's... they would still like to have a feature WR or 2.

I agree, we've squandered some talent imo. But those other two schools are as bad or worse. Truly baffling how this kid would have a top 3 of those schools when none of them have proven recently they can maximize the potential of a WR.

A couple of comments.

Yes, we do not seem to have what I would refer to as a go to receiver, especially since Pig got booted from the team. But, considering the style of offense we run and the pace that we keep, it is also unrealistic to expect to be able to run the offense with just 5 receivers getting the bulk of the load. That, perhaps explains why we seem to have health issues. They are getting too many snaps.

Second, I still do not believe that high school kids go into recruiting looking for the team that is flashy good and will use them the right way. As we see year after year, Alabama is generally #1 every year. How is that possible when the recruits have to know that they have little chance of playing meaningful snaps early. Especially running backs? On top of that, when is the last time that you can remember an Alabama player having an immediate impact in the NFL?

AU- "Come be the next Duke Williams!"
UGA- "Come play immediately with Jacob Eason"
TN- "Come rotate with 7 other 4*/5* and get 2-3 targets a game!"

I love TN, but I wouldn't want to come here right now if I was a top WR. And yes, I know the recruits we have coming in at the QB position. But I don't know if that'll change our crazy rotation strategy. We don't use the weapons we have enough, as is. JMO, GBO.

If we had consistent QB play throwing the ball downfield, and our WR could stay healthy and ON the field it would only be a matter of time before that special chemistry is developed, sort of like Dobbs and Malone (of late, not considering North Texas game) an one receiver may be able to separate himself from the rest, or at least draw enough attention to move some people around to make some plays. We just haven't had consistent WR play all year, something I really hope changes and soon.

Got some good news here. Auburn is still the team to beat, but this staff is working him hard.

This will go down to NSD. The key will be the in home visit with Mom.

Have I ever said anything different? The difference between me and you guys is not that I don't see his faults. Is that I believe he can improve. Why do I believe that? Because I've seen it.

One of the main reasons I'm so confident in Dobbs is the fact he's improved each and every year. He's gotten bigger. He's gotten stronger. His arm strength has improved. His running speed has improved. Now he needs to be more consistent throwing the ball.

We all have seen him throw the ball accurately. See the Kentucky and South Carolina games. So it's not about a lack of talent. Its about honing his craft. Improving his consistency. And stuff like that comes with experience.

And that's something I'm not worried about because I respect Dobbs work ethic and competitive hunger.

Improved? His accuracy is worse this year than last year.

Are you saying you think UT will get Kyle? Or that is butch's pitch to Kyle?

I am saying we land Kyle. And CBJ pitch to him and Mecole are being premiere WR here at Tennessee. He did not delay hos announcement just because he wanted to put it off. We have not let off the throttle recruiting this kid. And CBJ is the lead recruiter for KD

Thanks for sharing. I think Mecole could be special here and KD is a great complement to his style. I just know OV is connected and said we were out of the Davis recruitment.

Curious as to why you think this? OV has stated we are out of it for KD. He has connections to the Georgia guys.

So when was the last time we landed the top 3 recruits in the state of Georgia again?

That was not your OP. You said, "... It seems like every time I get really optimistic about a huge recruit, we lose him." I responded with a long list of very high profile recruits who signed with us. Then you moved the goal posts.

I guess I'll play along, anyway, by answering your question with a question for you: When is the last time any school landed the top 3 recruits in GA?
