'16 GA DE Mykelle McDaniel (UT signee 7/23/2016)

What a bad attitude...(blue font).

Little Kirby is trying to figure out a way to suspend his one DL (who has two arrests in the last few months ) for only half a practice. He wasn't used to this in Tuscaloser.

On a serious note, UGA police and Clarke County both love to target UGA athletes. Kirby has met with them and expressed his dissatisfaction.

and immediately booting the kid off the team who took apple ear pods lol.... but the drunk ass kid asleep at the intersection at 6am is free to stay on the team. Because he was going to be a starter and their DL numbers are already embarrassingly thin. Kirby the disciplinarian.

Ledbetter did say after he was arrested for DUI for being passed out asleep behind the wheel of his car in the middle of the street, that he thought it was a hate crime.

Freeing up a spot for Gibbs' other cousin.

Has it ever actually been stated by any reputable service they factor qualifying into a rating? Asking because I've never seen it. If they do, seems ridiculous. They are giving an evaluation on athletic talent and probably have no clue what a kid got on his latest history exam. I know Rivals use to list a kids ACT score(not sure if they still do), but how's that even validated?

Or is the notion that sites factor grades into the evaluation more something fans came up with to declare a kid underrated?

McDaniel is a take IMO. I'm not so much talking about his rating but in general. I see fans use "grades" a lot when wanting to declare a 3* a 4* or whatever.

Yes I have seen both 247 and Rivals admit to ability to qualify being part of their rating system. They are rating a kids college potential so if they don't think he is going to qualify it means he can't really impact in college. You have to be a all out unreal no brainer stud to be a 4/5 star kid if you have serious qualification issues

How does a recruiting site go about formulating an accurate realization of a kids grades, test scores, or whatnot? I'd assume Rivals can't call random high schools and obtain info on these kids grades.

I totally agree. A friend of mine that's a Georgia fan, sent me something from a Georgia 247 article that Kipp said Georgia passed.I told him that just shows how stupid your staff is at Georgia passing on a position of need.

His coaches at Grayson regard him as a pleaser, someone who has grown up to be more than a player who likes to rush the passer. Whenever a chance presents itself to do community outreach, he’s among the first to volunteer.

“I just love giving back and that is a way to give back,” McDaniel said. “I look at it as me taking an hour out of my day to try and make somebody else’s day. If I could do that, then I will do it. Why would someone not want to do that?”

His career path has been shaped by his family. He has seen aunts and grandmothers make their living as registered nurses. The future Dr. McDaniel will be a pediatrician. “I like working with kids and I like helping people,” McDaniel said. “I just see that as a good life for me.”

I can certainly see why UGA coaches would have been turned off by his attitude. Judging by that article, it's hard to imagine him getting in trouble with the law. Doesn't fit their profile.

Prolly the type of sorry lot that would see a nice vulnerable knee and not try to rearrange it.

Kipp Adams reported that Georgia passed on him. Word is he has a very bad attitude. Hopefully Butch can put some discipline in him.

Lol. Yeah Kipp. Sounds like a regular Josh Dobbs level juvenile delinquent! We'll take him off UGA's hands. The Bail Bondsmen are already swamped in Athens with the current UGA roster anyway.

This kids ability to qualify wasn't because he didn't have passing grades though. He plans to be a friggin medical doctor! The sites are just cookie cutter robots on anything out of the ordinary.

So he went to the same school as Gibbs? I'm assuming this has to help us getting him right?

No. Gibbs transferred and will play this year at Grayson. The schools are about 30-40 minutes apart.

It still may help. McDaniel appears to be tight with Pappoe and Watson, both of which appear to be leans to Tennessee. I'm sure he will develop a relationship with them over the course of this year.

Not sure I agree with this. Saban signed guys who he planned to put on his roster and play. Nutt signed guys who he knew would not qualify. It didn't matter if they didn't qualify, and he could come back later in Juco and say that he took a chance on him. The intent of each coach was different. I think Nutt abused it much more than Saban.

Like I said, Nutt took it too far. Saban's history is well documented and the fact remains, he's the king of oversigning. Wall Street Journal did a couple pieces on Saban and his oversigning practices some years back, they are worth reading...

So from what I understand McDaniel will count against the 2016 class. I have seen some posts saying he will count against the 2017 class but I think...and hope...he goes to 2016.

Really excited about McDaniel. He never really had any academic issues. He just had to get the green check mark from the NCAA clearinghouse as described below:

That green check mark is a nod to what those close to him term a “likely” clearance from the NCAA Clearinghouse. McDaniel was homeschooled up until his ninth grade year at Grayson High School. He took a few high-school level courses as an eighth-grader from an accredited association. He’s now playing the waiting game for those to be approved on his transcript.

Boom! Big pick-up especially given our high school DL misses last cycle.

This is the definition of a backhanded compliment...please aim those at crunchyleb and bruinvol (to name a few)

May I request that they not be aimed at our hard working oft maligned coaching staff?

:hi:
