Five-star defensive tackle Derrick Brown of Buford (Ga.) Lanier, one of the top uncommitted recruits in the country, has a top three in no order of "Alabama, Tennessee and Auburn" entering his final official visit, a source close to his recruitment told 247Sports on Thursday morning.

The 6-foot-3.5, 317-pound Brown will visit the Vols this weekend.

It's not the lone random CB that concerns me, it's the flood of them in a short time period. I can't believe they're discounting Tennessee's OV.

First, just what I have read and heard about the Brown family, im not sure any 'banking" would be viewed in a good light. I might be wrong but they seem only to be concerned about the well being of their son and not "get rich quick scheme" so many others are these days.

Second, Derrick needs to be coached by someone who will push him, who might not be his "best friend" at times, etc. Being coached by someone too close could be a bad thing long term. JMO

I agree wholeheartedly. I hate this "bagman" bullcrap when it involves a player we're heavily recruiting. And to your second point... Strip is just that guy!

Crystal balls are typically useless unless they come in spurts to one team. That is one thing I do not like about 247 is when they do that. They typically already know and have their article written and word gets around and so they can look good with their predictions they all flip and in turn tipping everyone off on where the recruit is going.

I think the recent AU predictions are guesses at this point but if they keep coming in even through the weekend it will give away where he is going.

im not worried about any crystal ball picks when there is still an important visit remaining. If he had already been here for official then I would be more worried. He hasn't and we have all seen Butch is a heck of a closer

Yep I agree. Citing Preston is not a good example. He committed like a year before NSD and IIRC it was out of the blue. DT may be a good example I guess but that's just one that I can think of.

Except in the 4th Quarter...:)

These are the same fools that had him at 100% to Georgia just a few weeks ago. Now they're not even in the top 3.

No one but Derrick and his mom know where he's going.

The CB's tend to be crapshoots, especially early ones. However, a string of CB's to a single team in a short period of time this close to NSD usually means a recruit is about to commit, or that the analysts are at least hearing something.

Still, as long as he shows up for his visit this weekend, we're in the mix.
