His intel is from georgia, but not from within the program, where he normally does (I believe).
Is this a little more smoke and mirrors?
Suspense building?

or just wishful thinking?

One kid who may be here only three years vs. a highly respected DC who has been recruiting successfully in TN for years? I'll take Shoop.

Would have been nice to have Brown but #'s 1 and 2 on the DL make us solid up front. I think we'll be okay.

Tennessee is a much a better program right now than Auburn. I know we've been able to still get good players even when Tennessee was down but Auburn always finds a way to steal highly touted recruits from us at the last minute. Right now Tennessee is the easy choice but I'm not the one making the decision.

Considering what our defense is ABOUT to be, I'm astounded he chooses to go to AUB over UT. Adding him to our defensive line would just be ridiculous as far as talent goes, especially considering the guys we will have in rotation that didn't even play last year. Any word on Tuttle's injury and how it's progressing, maybe what the forecast is on his injury?

There are tons of OL out there that can play. True stud DTs are hard to get.

No HS DTs in this class is huge. You need depth and bringing in a kid from HS gives you the change to RS if possible and build them up so in two years we have no drop off.

This will be a huge miss if we don't get Brown or Daniels.

Since we didn't have a favorable number of OL ALREADY on the roster and we're talking about 5 needed versus 2? Don't see the parallel.

The information doesn't really bother me. I come on every once in a while and post, but it is what it is, Tennessee going to be alright either way. I try not to be a downer.

Those who are just posing as "insiders" get exposed during the course of these things. Anyone who has real connections would never just give out who those connections are.

Does he know Auburn threw the bank at Shoop and he gave them a big fat no thanks- yeah our current DC. Seems like that might have gotten his attention a little. Maybe his family did like Jancek but how long has he gotten to know Steele the DC they had to hire... And look at the talent he would be playing with on our defense?! No $en$e

I kid of agree. We took 3 last cycle. It's obviously not ideal, but I don't think it's quite the disaster that not taking any OL that one year was.

I also think JUCO DL are easier to find than quality JUCO OL.

Edit: we have some nice looking DT prospects in state for next cycle as well. Gonna need to take 3 again next year.

Neither Brown or Daniels would have redshirted. Tuttle and McKenzie are sophomores. We'll be fine.

There is a good chance Phillips will be moved inside... If we miss on Brown, it's not the end of the world. Just a miss on a really good prospect.

I mis-quoted earlier about Brown's announcement tomorrow on NSD. It's on ESPN2 at 3:05 PM instead of on ESPNU. Sorry bout that guys!

Auburn DL, that has 3 5*, got 10 sacks all year. 19 TFL. Garner is not getting the most out of those guys. Crazy they keep landing top DL without actually doing anything with them.

Contrast that with our 40 TFL by DL, blows me away how the choice isn't obvious.

Not getting Brown means we probably have to go the JUCO DT route for the next couple of classes

Makes landing Johnson even bigger. We do need to land some big boys next year.
