There is a good chance Phillips will be moved inside... If we miss on Brown, it's not the end of the world. Just a miss on a really good prospect.

Zero chance Phillips plays inside. If there was he would have booked already.

Auburn DL, that has 3 5*, got 10 sacks all year. 19 TFL. Garner is not getting the most out of those guys. Crazy they keep landing top DL without actually doing anything with them.

Contrast that with our 40 TFL by DL, blows me away how the choice isn't obvious.

Great statistic :clapping::clapping::clapping:.

This is one of the very few years of late where we can honestly say that UT is the best choice for these players. Choosing UT now will afford them a great opportunity to challenge for a playoff spot next season. Outside of maybe choosing Bama (as bad as that kills me to say), I feel that these guys will go where their best chance to win is. That is The VOLS!!

.......unless DB has been seen tweeting "Show Me The Money" in an AU outfit......j/k of course.

I believe we will be fine no matter what his choice is, but UT is the better choice for DB this year with the choices he is supposedly down to; especially if he wants to win right away. He seems to be a great kid and I believe this will ultimately weigh heavily in our favor. JMHO

Not getting Brown means we probably have to go the JUCO DT route for the next couple of classes

Will likely need to take 2 in 2017 and 3 HS DTs.

And also hope that KMack and Tuttle stick around through 2018.

Just go all out on D line and RB next year. We are fine for next two years minimum. Sell that early PT on the SEC defending champs.

Is OV being sneaky here?
His intel is from georgia, but not from within the program, where he normally does (I believe).
Is this a little more smoke and mirrors?
Suspense building?

or just wishful thinking?

If he is hearing that then he is hearing that. He shoots straight. Hopefully, no one really knows but he would not play a game like that. Never has and do not expect it now.

"As of this afternoon we still believe Auburn is the likely destination for Derrick Brown. There is a lot of confidence coming from the Plains on that one, much more than Tennessee at this point."

- Fortenberry

Does he know Auburn threw the bank at Shoop and he gave them a big fat no thanks- yeah our current DC. Seems like that might have gotten his attention a little. Maybe his family did like Jancek but how long has he gotten to know Steele the DC they had to hire... And look at the talent he would be playing with on our defense?! No $en$e

I'm 100% certain that he was educated to something pretty close to that this weekend.

I said this last cycle. Garner is known for recruiting and not for coaching.

Kinda funny just because Fort had not used the words 'likely destination' for Brown to Auburn until just now. He's trying to spin it that he had called this all along. Historical revisionism at it's recruiting analyst best right here!

Unreal.

Good luck to Brown as his team gets thrashed by Clemson in his first game en route to the Birmingham bowl.

You will never beat Auburn for a recruit unless you really want to get dirty. Not saying we're lily white but they take it to organized crime levels. Always have, always will. They must have something really bad on the NCAA. They are really, really good at getting away with it.

The Brown family did a great job in this recruitment. If we don't get him, we don't get him, but the young man did an outstanding job with his recruitment.

Kudos to you Mr Brown. :hi:

Have we ever beat this dildo Garner? Always snaking guys at UGA and now Auburn from us. He isn't even a good coach. He is a recruiter/bagman. His player underachieve

I would just show Brown a video of WV piping up 70 on Clemson and then just stare at him until he got it.

Funny.

But that is actually NOT Kevin Steele's worst coaching moment. For those lucky few who don't know what I'm talking about:

In 1999, Baylor led UNLV 24-21 with :28 left in the fourth quarter. Baylor had the ball on UNLV's 8-yard line. UNLV had no time outs remaining, so all Baylor had to do was kneel the ball to end the game and get Kevin Steele his first win as a head coach.

I'll repeat: Baylor could win the football game by doing almost anything. Including nothing!

Instead, in what is possibly the greatest example of karma in human history Steele decided to try to score again. The RB fumbled at the 1-yard line, and a UNLV linebacker ran it back 99 yards to score as time expired. The only reason I don't think they were trying to lose is that they couldn't have possibly pulled it off like that.

Speaking after the game, Steele said, ""I have an explanation, but it doesn't hold water. We talked about creating an attitude and getting after people. We were simply trying to create an attitude."

THAT is your greatest ever Kevin Steele coaching moment.
