Defensive tackle and Georgia commitment Tyler Clark will be in town and is bringing his family with him. We talked to him Thursday night and he said he didn't have a comment on UGA's situation as the 'Dawgs wait to make official the Kirby Smart hiring. But, he's reached out to several recruits already and it wouldn't be a surprise if Clark was one of those. Several Georgia coaches were in Americus, Ga., earlier this week to check on him and Tennessee was in midweek to see him as well. He seems genuinely interested in Tennessee, but it's too early to know just exactly what he's thinking with UGA undergoing so much change.
Americus, Ga., defensive lineman Tyler Clark was on Rocky Top earlier this year when he saw Tennessee take down Georgia and the 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive lineman is looking forward to being back on campus this weekend for his visit.
Clark is checking out the Vols for the second time this fall.
"It was a great, great place to me so I just want to come up and chill for the weekend with my family," Clark said. "I remember the fans. I loved the fans."
Clark visited with John Jancek and Tommy Thigpen earlier this week and let him know they think he would be a nice addition to the 'Orange Swarm.'
"They were just telling me that I could be a big part of their defense," Clark said.
Clark said there aren't many expectations heading into his visit this weekend, instead he's focused on having fun.
"I just want to have a great time," Clark said.
When asked about the coaching situation at Georgia, he offered a no comment but said he will take an official visit to Georgia in January.
Story up on 247. Anything new?
Defensive tackle Tyler Clark (Americus, Ga./Sumter South) said Tennessee is his "No. 2" school behind Georgia, where he's verbally committed.
Clark said he plans to officially visit Alabama, Georgia and LSU in January before making his final choice.
He verbally committed to Georgia May 15.
"I was cool with the coaches, players. It's home. It's my home state," Clark said of Georgia.
Clark said LSU defensive line coach Ed Oregeron "wants to come (him) up" and "see the place."
