'16 GA LB Ja'Quain Blakely (UT commit 8/1/15)

Serious question, and this really isn't starting shi** with you. Could just be a difference in perspective. How many times can you say we didn't have three linebackers on the field this past season?

They may not have been in a 4-3 formation......but we had a hybrid with his hands in the dirt a lot. Those hybrids are not DE/LB hybrids, they are LB/DE hybrids.

Once again, not arguing with you, just interested in your point of view on this.

And from today.... Butch says "You play with 2 linebackers....." Guess that settles that.

It seems I remember that as well. I think that's the only play he got burned on all year though. It happens no matter how good a CB is, only takes one off play.

Amari Cooper torched everyone that's why he was the 4th overall pick.

First off, JRM is a phenomenal talent. He had over 100 tackles as a first year starter and being a true sophomore. If you watched the games last year, he was everywhere. I expect a 120+ tackle season for him this year. I think he will be back in 2016 because of team expectations. Now, as far as Ja'Q goes, this kid is a great athlete with length, speed, very sound fundamentals, and a frame that can easily be filled out without losing any athleticism. He shows in his film the ability to cover backs and receivers. this is not a "dime a dozen" type prospect. This is a very solid pick up at worse, and potential future starter on a very talented team. Many here on VN have become spoiled in the short time CBJ has been here and will complain about any commitment that is accepted that is not a 5* (or fringe 5*). CBJ has earned our trust in recruiting, but to question this particular commit is a bit ridiculous.

Blakley and Sapp are going to be special teams demons.

I can see them both starting by their rsjr and rsso years and each having over 90 tackles a piece.
Warrior would have 100 with 5 picks and 4 FF...

Colquitt County has a good looking receiver named Pollard that is 6'1 217. Apparently has offers from Arky, Cincy, Cal among others. Looks better than the 135th rated WR by 247.

Blakey looks pretty good, rangy with long arms. Just think how long his arms could get if he went the Admiral Schofield route.

The whole defense is built on speed UT loves LBs that can run and Blakely can move sideline to sideline very excited about this kids potential after watching him at the dome . On the sideline he's the vocal leader

4" longer

Here is his stat line from tonight: 5 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 1 INT, and recovered a fumble.

I'm really excited about this kid. I think he's under rated and I think he'll be a great player for us in the future.

Said this before. This young man wants to be a Vol. But based on the fact not a single coach tweeted out about his commitment told me all I needed to know.

Florida wants him bad and is on him way more than our coaches according to this article. He'll end up where he's wanted. He's a fine player but I'm not certain that our coaches don't have players higher on the board. Maybe an insider can drop by and fill us in.
