We be allright if JG can get the Jersey boy that committed to OSU to flip. Name I think is Walker.

Yeah, that should be a cinch......just flip the #1 rb in the country from the reigning national champion to whom he's already committed....to a .500 team in a different region of the country who he's yet to even visit.

Our big plans are in '17 IMO. This is mostly a depth year for us and could still end up looking quite nice when looked at from that point of view. Our sophomores and juniors are a year more experienced and take your pick of how many of them have the potential for standout years, much less our seniors. The '16 class will have time to develop. '17 is the reload year. :good!:

With all due respect, I don't think we have the luxury to just sign a "depth class" with the idea that 2017 is really the class we're gonna bank on. Jmo, but I think we're still very much in rebuild mode and desperately need to sign as much quality in this class as possible in order to not fall further behind the Georgias and Bamas in the conference.

Nobody ever has that luxury in the SEC

JMO, but I don't consider us behind anyone but Bama this year, and not by much at that. Young, but we're there.

I agree. It's not a popular sentiment, and that's why I've kept my mouth shut, but Butch's rebuild is going to take longer than two or three years.

We haven't got to the point where we have reliable depth all across the board. When teams like Bama lose kids to attrition, graduation, or the NFL, they truly reload. Just look at last night; we went in melt down mode over the possibility of losing Martin after already losing Swafford and then having to play true freshmen.

If Sutton goes down, the secondary isn't the same. If Hurd blows his knee, our running game is literally half gone. We saw what happened last year with a wounded receiving corps. God forbid Dobbs gets hurt.

We are just a couple injuries away from being a .500 team. Georgia is not.

We don't have the depth of either UGA or Bama yet. Neither of those programs have went through what we have recently. They have not had to do any rebuilding. Two recruiting classes will not put you in the same league as those teams when they are signing top 5 classes every year. IMO we are going to need another couple of really good classes to put us on their level.

Neither is Bama.

I agree with you for the most part. However, I do think we'll have the luxury this class at a few positions (RB not being one of them) to take a few developmental guys with high upside who won't have to be counted on as freshmen.

Okonya is a good example. He won't be ready to play until he's been in the weight room a year or two, but he should be a force once he's ready. And we should have Vereen/Lewis/Barnett for two more seasons and Phillips/Mixon/Butcher/Taylor for at least 3 more seasons before we really need to count on him anyway.

LB is another spot we should have enough young talent to be able to take a few guys who could use a redshirt. Maybe OG as well.

But at RB? We need at least one back who is rest for SEC ball as a frosh in this class. I doubt we're able to keep Hurd and Kamara around beyond the 2016 season. We need to have 2-3 guys who have been on campus a season or two once those guys leave (hopefully with another 2-3 stellar 2017 guys to go along with them).

That's what I was trying to say. We can take guys this year for solid depth that won't have to be relied on as true freshmen. '17 should be star studded.

I think the coaching staff has managed to load the roster perfectly spaced out so we are thin at absolutely no position and will have plenty of talent in every class in rotation to develop. I just mean reload like our first big class under Butch with legacies and a VERY good year in the state of TN for recruiting. We could have 2 five star RBs in the midstate alone. JMO IMO BBQ #NashvilleBBQbecauseimadetheBBQ TIFWIW

Do you smoke for one of the local places or is this a smoke BBQ in my back yard which happens to be in Nashville type deal?
