'16 MI WR Donnie Corley

Meh, Adams article doesn't bother me really. The only part I didn't like was mentioning a player by name in Jones. Other than that, he is most likely correct.

My only problem with this is that he gets paid - probably pretty well - to write this stuff, yet almost anybody on this site could have posted what he wrote on this message board. It's all just speculation and hypotheticals. Where is the homework? Where is the leg work? Where is the actual news/information? I mean, how about digging a little to find out what the average attrition among major college football programs actually is and maybe even putting together a little chart or something for comparison? How about going down to the sports complex and getting a quote from somebody that would have actual knowledge of the situation?

Does any of this matter today.. The desired affect has been achieved.. They're getting 'hits'.. People are reading his garbage, i.e., his employers are happy..

Journalism is DEAD!

Probably not. And I'm sure the advent of the Internet and social media has shifted the demands on journalists, placing an increased emphasis on frequency and prolificacy over substance or even quality. But still, the dude probably lives in Knoxville, has plenty of resources and - you would think anyway - sources, and he probably gets paid pretty well for it. He could've spent maybe two more hours on this article and put some actual information in it.

But I'm sure you're right. it's all about click bait now, and the more inflammatory, the better.

It's about content (even if the "content" is nonexistent and entirely hypothetical). And clicks. Clicks are more important than legitimate content these days. And the more controversial it is, likely the more clicks it gets.

And to be fair, John Adams makes a decent point about the transfers/attrition; his problem lies in naming players. Butch's attrition rate has been suspect so far (40% in the 2013 class and we lost half of our 4 stars in 1 year in the 2014 class). Attrition really is an important stat to keep an eye on. Ever since he was hired I said attrition rate will be the most important stat to look at with Butch (besides wins and losses) and so far it has. He's recruited incredibly well, but he's also had trouble retaining that talent and developing it into SEC caliber depth. 2015 class has been phenomenal so far in terms of attrition/depth. Hopefully Butch can keep it that way.

The fact that you put just as much additional information about attrition in your post as he did in his whole article actually supports my initial criticism. My point is that I've seen posters on this very site provide more information on the matter.

I'm not saying the issue isn't newsworthy. It may very well be, but that's never established in the article. Anybody with Internet access could do a few minutes of research and make a few comparisons to determine whether or not the 5 transfers last year is even an exceptional number.

The dude staked a claim and the only evidence he gives to support it is the name of the 5 guys that transferred last year. Additional "support" for his claim includes the fact that 1of those 5 - erroneously identified as a Jones recruit, BTW - had a successful year and the pure speculation that the other 4 will have successful years in subsequent years at their respective unidentified destinations.

Again, I'm not saying that this issue is without importance or interest. I'm just saying it's ridiculous that he's getting paid to produce something that's no greater than what half the members of this site post for free.

Donnie Corley, he won't be deciding Tuesday as he will be in NYC for an Army Bowl promotional thing. Instead, he could do something at the end of the week or delay the decision altogether once again in January.

Either way, expect Tennessee to visit him later in the week as they continue to try and make a move. While the Vols have made a clear push here recently, I still don't have anyone telling me either way what he will do. Most still feel he stays Big10 for whatever that is worth.

What I have heard about Azzani is second hand stuff on Twitter and such. I by no means no anything more than you guys. Just seems that most feel he would take the OC job at Maryland.

Isn't tennessee the only common finalist? I mean I know it doesn't say they will commit to the same school. Just on the same day but still.

How awesome would it be if we landed both on the same day? Might lead to an epic close for the 2016 class. I never count Butch out when it comes to recruiting. I think we finish with a top 10 class.

Would love to get both, but I'll guess they commit to rival schools at the same time.

Hill > Michigan
Corley > Michigan State

I have a feeling they are both going to be Buckeyes.. Hope I'm wrong.. This would be a huge package deal for us to pull from Big 10 country

Corley and Hill have followed nothing but all vol pages on Twitter as of late, i.e. Following Outback bowl, Coaches, players, Vol fan pages, etc. They are tweeting each other now about how epic it will be. Hmmmm
