Staff likes Sylvie that much? Not doubting you, just a surprising order to me. TN is loaded with good DBs this year.

Agree. Suprising Joejuan williams isnt near the top next to Warrior for safties. Suprising Sylvie is that much better. But the staff seen these guys play much more than me

I know recruiting your home state is important, and Butch has has done it extremely well. But if there was a year to miss out on the #1 prospect in the state would this be it? I hope everyone understands what i'm trying to ask. I understand that usually Tennessee is not usually chocked full of HS talent, but JoeJuan is #1 in the state and not even a top 100 player according to rivals.

Sylvie really is a stud. He said UT was recruiting him mostly at Nickel though. I remember Sylvie saying that.

Yeah Williams is confusing because he sure does seem like a high priority target since Butch calls him every Sunday or at least used to. Williams is just quiet with his recruitment and does like several schools. I wonder if it could be a mix of priority vs likelihood that has shifted the board at safety. I do think Nigel is #1 but figured Williams was 1B. I also recall Sylvie saying we were recruiting him as nickel.

I've felt this way myself for some time now.

Tennessee HS talent has been strong the past few years (and will be very strong in '17 by the look of it), but it looks like there's not a ton of SEC-caliber instate talent this year. Combine that fact with our limited number of scholarships, and you see our coaches being very selective and doing a lot of work in other states.

Was apparently a "Super Standout" at FSU's recent camp;

Knott worked out during the Thursday session and was clearly the most dominant defensive back at the event. He has solid size and functions as a pure cover corner, staying in the hip pocket of any receiver he's asked to cover. Knott flips his hips as easily as any cornerback in the country, which allows him to avoid falling victim to double moves. On top of being the best cover corner at the event, the speedy Knott may have been the day's best pure athlete
